What's up with SOHO?

Hi
Since yesterday i'm trying to reach soho's latest images but the last is from 07/12/2009 and there's a huge light entering the stage.
Do think it can correlate with the Norway spiral phenomena,or is soho on maintenance?
Can't find any info on the website

The latest image here is from the 7th.
I even did a google search for the website and it's the same.

I was waiting for that bright object to appear also.

here is a site i like to visit after looking at soho. the top left image is not soho, but another satelite that is trailing behind Earths orbit, so it sees a little further leftward, to show what is coming around the edge. you get a couple days notice.

I remember a few other times when SOHO was shut down when people started to see things enter the image.

Didn't quite know where to post this

But here it goes; I was viewing Lasco images and came across, the SOHO re-using footage at least so I think.

If you go to footage from 2010/03/08 6:18 to 16:18 there are four things that baffle me
1. what is the other planet at least i think that its a planet far left in line with ohter planets

2. Strange image at 7:42 of the same day "V" like shape

3. Other planet I think at 11:18 top of lasco image

4. The double image 14:18 and 16:18 are exactly the same to a tee is that normal do they have, times when they have to re-use footage even though there is three frames that go bye in between. Something there doesn't seem right because it picks up right after what would explain the missing image.

As well with 1 & 3 if they are planets is it unusual to have three planets in the scope at one and what planets would they be if they are, just curious?

To answer your questions 1-3. The "V" and other things you are calling planets are the result of cosmic rays striking the sensor.

To answer your question 4. I've seen the same thing happen before and inquired about it. Here is the answer I got, which was pretty much what I had guessed.

Simple answer: crapy software!

The software uses a circular buffer, and instead of nulling old images just overwrites them with new images once they become available. If there is a data gap, the old images remain in the buffer instead of being deleted. If the next DSN pass includes data from the onboard tape recorder (which can be several weeks old), the software sometimes gets confused and associates the header with a wrong image file.

I should emphasize that this affects only the quicklook data (quick and dirty near real-time data that are created on the fly for our web pages). The final level 0 science quality data in the SOHO science archive are correct.
