I have seen a number of threads/tv shows/magazine articles etc recentlyl because of the u.s health care bill saying that free health care is a horrible idea.

Much of the debate is purely political. If a Republican were in the White House, many of the same people who are saying it's a horrible idea would be singing its praises and many who support it now would be finding fault.

I do agree that it's a matter of trust in the government. It's hard for us to trust them after their behavior over the past 20 years or so... I say give it a chance, though. I want everyone to be covered.

Wake up people, what is been cooked in congress with the health care is changing by the minute, right now for those out there that has not been following the news, the public option is death as today in talks in congress and we have actual morons in congress that are telling that private insurance cost are not "that expensive" and that people if they could not afford health care for their families they should not breed so much.

Actually this came from the mouth of a Republican spokeman on CNBC.

Today.

Its this horrible "better dead than red" mentality that these old people have been indoctrinated with forever. They have come to believe that socialism or any social security programs are evil and un-American. Capitalism and democracy are not synonymous. I don't see the problem with having a nation that has capitalist and socialist programs into place. Freeing the American people from the ridiculous bind of the insane Pharmaceutical and Insurance companies would be a great first step in our overall liberation. People complain about higher taxes, well guess what no one enjoys paying taxes. However, in the long run you will have more of your paycheck after paying into a government run healthcare premium after taxes than you would after taxes while paying for privatized insurance.

I just can not fathom the allowance of greed that stems from the older generations. It is disgusting and vile, and it is a horrible quality to pass on too future generations. These are the same individuals who cry that global warming is a fraud, well let us think that it is a huge fraud for one second. If it is fine, however the conservation of energy that we could utilize from alternative fuels, energy consciousness, and all around green practices would have the effect of freeing us from the bind of these mega corporations who desire us to do nothing but to consume. I don't understand why some individuals would even allow these entities to control them freely, I really really don't.

Heck...I'd vote for Danny if I had the chance!!

I keep singin' that same old song...my cancer was cured for $32 out of pocket...and that was for parking at the cancer centre. Yes, it came out of taxes, which I freely pay as the price of civilisation, and I'm happy to help my fellow Canadians with my tax dollars as well. We look out for each other.

It does make a difference, but it’s nice to know you cherry picked my post. Apparently you didn’t get the rest of what I said that the government is only good for destroying everything they touch... Anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid.

Give it a chance? Like we have a trillion or so dollars on hand to gamble with, right?

Here's the thing: I would love to have everybody covered as well. But instead of re-vamping the entire system, why can't they spend their time, effort, and money improving Medicaid and Medicare? You know -- the original government plan to having everyone covered.

And how much of this dog's breakfast of a new plan is based upon pork, and dilution demanded by Big Pharma and Big Health disguised as representatives?

Anybody say "Give us a good health plan or you won't even get elected dog-catcher?"

If it had have been a straight-forward process, then you wouldn't have what you now appear to have...so essentially, you got what you asked for.

Anything but free health care is absurd.

If you are forced to pay for health insurance or be fined boggles my mind, how can any 'free' person allow that.

Frankly, I take issue with your remark. It may not serve you, but to say "the government is only good for destroying everything they touch... Anyone who thinks otherwise is stupid." is pretty stoopid itself.

Apparently you are not familiar with the mass amount of corruption down here in America.... We have two Idiots to choose from A or B. sometimes we get a third choice who is very strong and viable but A and B get the most money because they are backed by stronger things such as the Unions and big Business....

So much for your grassroots theory.

Actually I heard in the news and behind the scenes, because the health care bill has gone into the back burner when it comes to what is been actually discussed in congress, that is becoming so watered down, that the only ones to be benefiting from it is not the tax payer or the public but big pharma and the insurance with more costs per family that many could afford.

Yes is obvious that like the spokesman said, private health care is not "that expensive"

We should all vote Republicans out of office next time. Because they are adamant in defeating one payer Public Option. Even though majority of Americans are for Public Option.

Do you really want these ass-clowns telling you want kind of care you can get?

Does that not then speak to the representation that you elect? I don't care how many lobbyists my Member of Parliament has kissing his arse...if I don't vote for him, he's back selling real estate. I make that real clear...which is why Steve can't get a majority.

Grass roots, Dude, not astroturf! The population numbers are meaningless, except that you end up with a larger membership...which is the essence of insurance, right? You can have it if you want it, but you have to want it bad.

Some folks just don't care about the other guy...that's the bigger issue.

I'm not so sure people do not care about the other guy, my relatives in MI are all about helping each other out, helping out their communities, and especially considering they are what I would call dirt poor.. yet they are concerned that the healthcare will have the same issues transposed over to what ever new system is in place, and that the existing greedy vultures will just cherry pick more of the pie..

Honestly I've been brought up with the NHS and love the service to bits (even spent a while working in it myself) and would pay more towards it, without a shadow of a doubt.. I want the service to improve for me, my family and fellow compatriots :-)

My mum had a stroke last year and is paralysed down one side, after 12 weeks in hospital she is back home and daily pysio visists, health care workers around 3 times a day, before they let her out of hospital they adapted her home to make it managable, electric bed, chair etc..

But I really feel for my relatives in the US that they do not have that kind of help, I can not get my head around them paying for cancer drugs! and yet I do understand their concerns.. if we didn't have the NHS in the UK and any of our 3 current party leaders suggested putting it in place, I would be concered too.. since there really seems to be a real lack of moral fibre in nearly all of todays politicians..

Is one problem, "public option" goes against monopoly by pharma and private insurance profits.

Taking into consideration that we have a corporate run government, nothing done in congress has anything to be an advantage for the population.

Even when they are sucking the tax payer drie while bailing out their fund raisers in the big corporate world.

Umm incase you dont know there, I have read from your own papers the Romney care is failing and bankrupting your state....

www.boston.com...

www.usatoday.com...

online.wsj.com...

www.google.com...

These are just some of the articles I found... So you see free health care is bankrupting your state, and if thats the way you want it you can have it.... I am for health care reform but when big goverment gets involved who have a history of running things like this into the ground no one wins...

Were are you stats to back up up that a majority of Americans want a single payer option... from what I have seen most Americans are against it. You want true reform theres a bill in Congress right now thats three pages long... It allows all Americans to buy into the federal health Insurance program.. 3 pages vs 2000 pages.. Im going with the 3 pages... Nothing is free

Prove me wrong... Show me one thing that the American government has touched that they haven’t destroyed or are on their way to destroying and I will eat my words...

It is very NAIVE and STUPID to think otherwise...

Edit to add I was not calling you stupid I am calling EVERYONE who thinks the government is our savior... there STUPID. The government has been bought an played for by the Unions and the Big Corporations.. One as to look at the bailouts under Bush and Obama, TARP, the Wars and the War contracts nothing benefits Main Street USA NOTHING, we are getting hosed and will continue to get Hosed by those people.

Yes it is. I know this too. But while it's here, it's good. That's why I think socialized healthcare should become the norm throughout the US not just a state run program, and I firmly believe it should come out of taxes and not solely funded by the government. That's why it works in other countries. Yes you pay more in taxes, and I would gladly pay more if I knew I had peace of mind, and that everyone was equally covered. Less stress to deal with knowing I don't have to worry about my health or my family's. I'll gladly put a chunk of my pay up for that, instead of giving up a part of my paycheck to my employer so that they could payup my part of it to the insurance company that may end up denying me certain aspects of healthcare. And as for the US being in the red... maybe people need to start making a stink about how the government is actually spending its money (wars and other BS) and maybe the US wouldn't be in such debt. I'd rather know it was in debt over socialized healthcare.

So in one breathe you say you know its ruining your state bankrupting it, and in the next breathe you said it needs to be nation wide.. What makes you think if your state cant do the Federal goverment will be able to?

What part of the Federal government destroys everything it touches did you not understand????

Edit to add you mentioned that you wanted Higher taxes....

My taxes are already high enough. I pay Federal, Medicare, SS, State, County, Local, that’s from my direct income.... I pay County sales taxes, Property tax, I added it all up last year My wife and both made 45,000 Combined and I paid 10,578 in Taxes at all levels combined. That’s after I got back 2300 from the feds, 250 from Ohio. But had to pay the county 350, and the local government 450. And I always wonder why I couldn’t always pay my bills even after I cut all the frivolous stuff out.

So now you want me to support higher taxes to pay for the people down the street who are welfare warriors?????? So they can keep living in a house they have no business being, get healthcare off my back, take food from my mouth, because there to damn stupid and lazy to get a job or two...

Sorry I will help families that need help who are out of work and actively looking for it but I refuse to help welfare warriors, this welfare society, this socialism society has breed a group of people (not all mind you) that don’t want to do anything but put their hands out to the government to and ask for more..... Not happen I refuse to. Am I a bad person for this no.
