Sadly its true.

We do use up resources and someday there will be none left.

None left?
Where do the resources go? Are we shooting all of them off into space?

the video ellucidates the historic path of human civilization, and that is crucial - of civilization...
the animation will never come close to describing humanity as a whole because there is so much diversity...
many indigenous peoples live at Peace with Nature, as well as many people who choose the woodland and or farm Life. then it would seem rather than all of humanity being a problem, that there is a problem with the mindset of those 'driving the engines of industry' for merely exploitative profits...
there are even technological solutions to the complex pollutive situaions which the Earth and humanity faces, which many caring humans are sharing. perhaps we see it is not humans who are the problem...its the system devised by those seeking power. look at your brothers and sisters who really care and see now how we can be the resolution.

That is the funniest thing I've ever seen! I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.

I loved the part with the guy running around cutting the heads off all the cute little animals.

They tried to create something to promote their environmentalist garbage but it' just to darn funny to take seriously.

I wonder, would it be funny if the goverment and VIPs call "human" a virus?

I wonder....

I REALLY WONDER...

...are we going to the next stage of evolution of human desiring to become a machine to protect the earth?

Look like it...

Not exactly. The truth is more subtle than that & tied up in the Laws of Nature; I may as well call it the Laws of Physics, because it's the same thing.

This universe operates on the self-perpetuating cycle of matter & energy over time; this is one of the fundamental Laws of Physics (Laws of Nature). Different forms of matter & energy interact with each other & even change into different forms of one another. One example is how your body stores its food (fuel) as calories & burns them to create the energy to keep yourself alive...The "matter" of your food (stored as calories) is converted into energy to power your muscles & organs. Thus, your body uses that energy to also grow & replace aging/dying/injured cells in your body; the energy is converted back into matter. After you die, you eventually rot & feed the soil with the stored potential energy within your decomposing remains. After which, plants can use sunlight, water & the leftover nutrients your body leaves in the soil to grow themselves. Herbivores eat plants, carnivores eat herbivores & we in turn eat animals...The cycle returns.

In a similar cycle, the resources we use don't "disappear," they're merely changed into another form...That must take time to be re-converted back into a human-usable form once again. As we increase our population & use more resources, Nature can't keep up with the demand because of the limited time-factor to recycle those resources. This happens when greedy people over-exploit our resources for the "profit-motive." This is in clear violation of the concept of "sustainable development," because they develop faster than resources can be sustained.

This is a good example on how the greedy corps are willing to eke out as much profit as they can before oil runs out...Does anybody really think that they're not already prepared to do the same with coal & natural gas? Why else do they become reluctant when told that they have to make coal-burning cleaner? Burning oil ain't much cleaner than coal, but they secretly develop technologies & don't use them because it eats into the "profit-margin." When the time is ripe to exploit a different resource, they're ready to do so.

this is copied from NoHierarchy post on pg6 in "I am not human, but instead another species" thread...succinctly expressed wisdom.

"In my personal opinion (if I were a powerful alien race studying humanity), I'd conclude that humans are an exceptional species, imperfect, but also capable of beautiful as well as beastly things. We are also animals evolved from the same primordial soup as everything else on this planet. If there is any evil in our species that would be destroyed/stopped by an alien race to save our planet, it'd be our civilization/system (or key parts of it) and NOT our species itself. Most of our problems stem from our civilization exploding out of the agricultural revolution 10 thousand years ago. Prior to that (and even afterwards for some lucky humans) our species lived for over 90 THOUSAND years without destroying the planet or each other at such an insane level as now. Essentially, our civilization is unsustainable, not our species. We are not destined to be voracious and destructive, for 90% of our history as homo sapien sapiens we WEREN'T. We must simply change the way we live on this planet, and this doesn't require alien saviors, religious saviors, super-advanced technology, or for everyone to turn into peaceful loving evolved perfect monks."

I think what Capgirl meant to say is that there will be very little reusable left.
There is a plastic island somewhere I forget where, made up of bags, polystyrene and such , are we going to recycle it?
Ships, boats and metal waste dumped at sea, are we trying to get them back to reuse it?
Fabric made from clothing, dumped underground in landfill, are we emptying the sites, are we reclaiming and reusing it?

No to the above and all the other items we manufacture.

SO yes there will be none left as we are too lazy to think of new ways to recycle. or too lazy to even recycle using current technology.

We might as well be shooting it off into space if we are unable to reuse the material wealth of this world for benefit of its inhabitants.

Sure everything is in existance, and everything is recycled by the universe in some form, you, me, computers, even the air we breath but we as a species are too lazy to look at the long game, we only see what we want NOW, not what can we have tomorrow.
We live in a 'throwaway' society and it saddens me to think that whilst we have our ipods and HD TV , our great grandkids will have nothing to wear.

I wish every bastard who said humanity was a virus, would take a gun, put it to their head and blow their brains out.
They're the only virus here.

YOU may be a virus destroying Earth. But I know I sure as hell ain't. And anybody who compares me to one can talk to my boot when I kick his ass.

The problem is that we're spreading ourselves too thin, spiritually.

that's my main concern...

not so much that there's too many people..

but that there's too many uneducated emotionally immature people who have completely skewed and contrary unreasonable premises of "what reality is" in their heads.

I think the right to live plentifully and/or reproduced should be based on a decisive scale of MERIT.

In a basic response to the OP Title:
Human are virus! SAVE THE EARTH!

Consider the Laws of Nature. All living organisms have the biological capacity to resist & immunize themselves against viruses. It's a trait that's been constantly evolving since the beginnings of life on this planet. Does anyone here actually think that, if we Humans are acting like a virus on this Earth, that the Laws of Nature don't provide for any defense?

Wrong! Even looking at the various eco-niches that species live in, what happens in any place that becomes overpopulated? Mother Nature thins out the population until its numbers are reduced once again into "sustainable development." In short, letting Humans continue to overpopulate & consume resources isn't going to "doom the planet." The planet was here long before us & (unless we wise up & come to an understanding of ourselves within the environment) it'll be here long after we're gone...The Earth will recover, even if we don't!

In a nutshell, those extremists (call them "eco-terrorists," if you will) that shout "Save the Planet" while committing mass murder or mass destruction of Human works are disseminating: What they really mean to say is that they want to save themselves from the famine, disease & massive die-offs of people when Mother Nature takes command.

Even though the government refused to sign the Kyoto Treaties years ago, they're still beginning to implement it in the USA...Have you heard about the Carbon Tax that's currently under consideration? In short, they understand what humans are doing to this planet & keep trying to find new ways to profit from human misery.

Even a Meritocracy government will do the same profiting from human misery...Except that this form of government will give them the "authority" to do some of the causing of human misery by deciding who lives & who dies. In short, the same families of self-styled "elite" in our history have always wanted to exert such controls over everyone else, even long before overpopulation became a concern. Is that really any better than trusting to the Laws of Nature (or hoping that we'll "grow up" fast enough to change our ways) to get it all sorted out?
