Perhaps you’re right about using the cooks to discredit valid concerns. It works. Anytime I mention special interest groups, money manipulation,
people at work say "yes, and Elvis is alive" and then add, "and he's an alien". So it works.
Perhaps it's because in times of discontinuity in history, or a shift, the number of lunatics usually increases. In times of Jesus, for example,
there was an unusually high number of false prophets (according to historic references), and what a shift that was. I am surprised anyone believed
Jesus at all, after years of cooks walking the streets shouting the words not dissimilar to OP
Which brings me to these questions:
-- is Elvis alive?
-- how much gold will cost in USD and GBP by the end of the year or Q1 into 2010?
-- will we see funky aliens flying in the sky in 2010?
-- why when I throw a rectangular brick in the water it produces round waves?
-- what are the main reasons and cures for cancer?
-- can matter or energy exist without time? And what is the time actually?
-- servitude or war?
-- why spiders weave different webs when they are drunk?
-- ....
you can pick any you like.
