Let’s take a minute to talk about the do as I say and not as I do hypocrites. While we are talking about these people let’s also talk about those that are going to be attending Copenhagen and the massive carbon footprint they will have left.

We have seen them all say things about how we the normal people (peasants if you will) need to do everything we can to stop global warming. We are the problem, we need to go green. Only through our sacrifice of getting rid of our average vehicles and using one square of toilet paper when we go to the bathroom, and riding a bike or walking everywhere can we save the polar bears. We have all heard the cries and seen the tears as we struggle through our average lives actually putting a tiny footprint of carbon compared to these buffoons.

Let’s look at the words they preach yet do not follow. Of course it is okay though because “we (the peasants) will love them no matter how badly they treat us”. I guess they think we are in some sort of abusive relationship where we will always say “but we love them so” as they kick our face in and leave us in our own bloody mess. Of course there are those that will love them regardless of how much proof you show that these are nothing more than shallow hacks who are stealing the average person’s very soul through slave labor. How is that you ask? Easy, most of these people sell some form of something that many will mindlessly pay their hard earned money for. Either that or they will go out and buy anything that these people sponsor. While being a sponsor they still pull off some of that money in the end anyway. Then they take that money and spend it on things to leave their carbon footprints that are larger than the average persons. It is an endless cycle of paying them to pollute more than we do while we are the ones being forced to give up our lives.

The giving up of our lives is coming. Just wait until they start to pass laws that will charge for a carbon foot print being laid. Of course certain people will be exempt from such things as they always are. Or wait until they give the EPA the freedom to come in and tell people (us average peasants) how much of a footprint we are allowed to make or we are fined, jailed, or in some deranged Eco-Nazi’s mind put to death. We all know there are some Eco-Nazis out there just wanting to kill people for their footprint that is negligible to say the least.

Let’s look at some of these people closely for a moment.

There was Sheryl Crow, who had called upon the public to refrain from using more than one square of toilet paper per visit (“except on those pesky occasions when two or three are required”) and who was leading a Stop Global Warming concert tour across America. It was revealed that while Crow travelled in a biodiesel tour bus, her 30-person entourage followed in a fleet of 13 gas-guzzling vehicles.
John Travolta notoriously encouraged the British public to do its bit to fight global warming — after flying into London on one of his five, yes, five private jets (one of which is a Boeing 707). In 2006 his piloting hobby produced an estimated 800 tons of carbon emissions, more than a hundred times the output of the average Briton, according to the Carbon Trust.
Oprah Winfrey, who preaches eco-virtue from her TV pulpit, travelled in a 13-seat Gulfstream IV private jet for years — the preferred model for celebrities and the super-rich. (She has replaced it with a faster Bombardier Global Express.) The public first became aware of her private-jet habit when her plane had to make a forced landing in California in 2005; it was reminded of it this year after one of her stewardesses was fired for allegedly having sex with the pilot while Oprah and other passengers were asleep.
Jennifer Aniston told reporters that to save the Earth’s precious water resources she brushes her teeth while in the shower. But she also flew a hairdresser to Europe to accompany her on a recent publicity tour for the film Marley & Me.
There are endless other examples of hypocrisy by green politicos. David Cameron was once photographed virtuously riding his bike to the House of Commons, with his official car behind him, carrying his suit and briefcase. Ken Livingstone, who swore he would make London the world’s greenest city when he was mayor, made scores of arguably unnecessary flights to foreign destinations. The supposedly green Barack Obama had a St Louis chef flown 850 miles just to make pizza at the White House.

Well now is that not interesting? Wait I thought we were supposed to be conserving energy so that we do not leave a larger footprint than we need to. Well……I guess it’s okay if I do it as long as I get others who in a year will leave a smaller footprint than I do in a month to stop it will be okay.

Wait it gets better. What is going on in Copenhagen? Oh yeah they are going to save the world by teaching us to have or making us have a smaller carbon footprint. Well….maybe not, let us take a look at this little get together.

The Copenhagen summit next week will generate vast quantities of hot air. It will see 16,500 people coming in from 192 countries. That amounts to 41,000 tons of carbon dioxide, roughly the same as the carbon emissions of Morocco in 2006. Also, the organisers will lay 900 kilometres of computer cable and 50,000 square metres of carpet. More than 200,000 meals will be served and visitors will drink 200,000 cups of coffee — at least that will be organic.

Oops I guess they forgot they were supposed to be taking it easy on those nasty carbon emissions.

Well maybe if I can knock off a few prostitutes for free it is worth it.

Danish Prostitutes offer free sex to climate conference delegates

I mean come on a free party and sex. All I need to do is force the peasants below me to suffer. Seems like a nice cozy party for these people. Hopefully though some of them will walk away with more than a warm feeling of kicking their servants in the face. Hopefully some of them will walk away with that burning sensation when they urinate, or maybe a nice case or Herpes.

So what do you think about them.
Here is the full article to read, just so you can get that loving feeling for them. I mean after all without them we would be terribly miserable. We owe them so much.

Starred and flagged.
There is no doubt, as you point out, that the attendees are complete hypocrites, AT BEST. At worst, their actions may actually harm the Earth more in the long term, if they get their way. The real crime is that EVEN if they are right about man-made global warming (and they certainly haven't proven that beyond a reasonable doubt), they have NO SOLUTION, other than taxing the heck out of companies and people.

If they are wrong about man-made global warming, their actions may place the Earth on a road from which it cannot recover. There is real concern that their actions could hasten a new ICE AGE, which would be FAR WORSE than a temperature increase of a degree or so.

Thanks

I agree about the ice age issue. By the way I happened to hear about the Copenhagen emissions on talk radio (AFR) today while working in the yard and found a link due to the topic.

It is (according to my understanding) more likely that carbon will deflect the suns warmth causing things to get colder for us all. That should really make the polar bears happy. I don’t have anything against polar bears but they always bring them up so I thought I might as well also. Actually I rather like polar bears so long as they are not close to me and hungry.

As for manmade GW I am on the fence about it. I can say for sure that man is polluting the planet, we have for ages. That does not make it okay by any means though. We all need to do what we can to keep the planet clean. But their science is just not accurate. They cannot say it is. There has not been a long enough recorded time of climate to get an accurate reading. If we look at history (not recorded by man) we can see that there have been cycles throughout time. Things also seem to be getting warmer through the rest of the universe as well; I somehow doubt man can be blamed for this as well. Though I am sure if given the right amount of time Al Gore will do his best to say we are deep frying aliens or something in his next movie A Sad Solar Truth.

No matter what happens after this whole Copenhagen thing we are quite possibly screwed. They have either helped to speed up GW or an ice age, or they are fixing to tax us into oblivion right before they cost most citizens their jobs.

BTW, I just posted a new thread that deals with the fact that leading climatologists claimed in 1975 that we were headed into an Ice Age. You might get a kick out of the quote I keyed in, from the book, which I have.

They were talking about that when discussing this as well. I got a kick out of the fact that none of them have a clue as to what is happening despite their words otherwise. I’ll check it out.

I do know one thing for sure despite any evidence they want to present about climate change (which is natural for the most part) it sure would have been nice to invest in. These GW cult people are making some big cash.

The funniest thing about the article at hand (which I forgot to mention earlier) is how they go into a defense of the eco-Nazis. I can understand some defense at least if you look at normal pay for them and organizations raising funds, but if they were truly serious they might forgo their pay that day/night and tell the organizations to keep it.

I have heard people spouting fear about things to come in the way of climate. But the thing that worries me more is what might come out of our doing things because of the climate (climate control, passing extreme laws, or whatever else they might conceive to hand down on us).

This is a sad truth. The so called 'leaders' tend to be some of the largest hypocrites on the planet today. However this is not surprising and not limited to the issue of climate change.

Indeed those in power show moral corruption and inconsistency in every step they take. I will sadly have to argue that pointing this out in this case is nothing more than a 'red herring'. If the fact that our elected leaders are unsustainable means that we can not learn to create and live in a more sustainable society then we are in for some big trouble.

Again I am sadly going to have to call you out on sensationalizing the issue at hand and the solutions to this issue. Our 'average' vehicles all could have massively improved gas mileage if the corporate powers that be allowed for such improvements, unfortunately for us all they make money off us consuming so they DESIGN everything to USE as MUCH as POSSIBLE to make more money. It is not just gas milage they keep down, it is the whole idea of Planned Obsolescence.

This really is the key issue too. Consumption. It is not about living off of scraps it is about making appropriate and sane decisions in how and what we consume. Why buy a cookie made in China when I can buy a cookie made down the street from my house? )The honest answer is Free Trade, thanks a lot Bill C, you suck. . . ) Sure I can ride my bike 5 blocks to the store rather than drive. The benefit is beyond simply environmental,it improves my quality of life by offering me a chance to exercise, get outside and see the sights, say hi to my neighbors, and a host of other pleasant things.

And finally we are only peasants because we choose to be. We elect our officials. We support their machinations such as free trade, which by the way is the PRIMARY reason we in the USA are getting poorer and poorer. While affluence is in the mind of the beholder, if we really had a problem with the elite being so dam rich while the rest of us can't even afford to pay all the months bills then we would do something about it. The entire, 'we're peasants' gripe is just another 'red herring'.

It is sad but true, this is in essence the relationship most citizens have with their elected officials and social elite.

Of course there are those that will love them regardless of how much proof you show that these are nothing more than shallow hacks who are stealing the average person’s very soul through slave labor. How is that you ask? Easy, most of these people sell some form of something that many will mindlessly pay their hard earned money for. It is an endless cycle of paying them to pollute more than we do while we are the ones being forced to give up our lives.

This is so true and is EXACTLY what I am trying to say. It is about learning to consume in a sane manner. It is about seeing the corporations and their 'faces' as the vampires they are.

And more sensationalism and less reality. Come on mate. YOU are playing the game too. YOU are actively backing up the global elite, the transnational-corporations who would do ANYTHING to prevent us from seeing how they are not only raping WE the PEOPLE but the EARTH too.

Don't think that reducing carbon ONLY equals a reduction in technology and comfort. That is such a linear and flawed model of though. Don't you think we are smart and inquisitive enough to ADAPT?

Let’s look at some of these people closely for a moment:

There was Sheryl Crow...John Travolta...Oprah Winfrey...Jennifer Aniston...David Cameron...

What an interesting bunch you chose to represent those concerned about the environment. You should have thrown in Gore too, you see he is also one of the EASIEST targets to be used as a 'red herring' to deflect attention from the real issue, just like the other hacks and loosers you have quoted above.

Well now is that not interesting? Wait I thought we were supposed to be conserving energy so that we do not leave a larger footprint than we need to. Well……I guess it’s okay if I do it as long as I get others who in a year will leave a smaller footprint than I do in a month to stop it will be okay.

Yup 'red herring' for sure. The people listed above are NOBODIES. They are the corporate social du jour. They are icons bought and paid for by special interests and in no way represent anything of value, at least in my world.

Wait it gets better. What is going on in Copenhagen? Oh yeah they are going to save the world by teaching us to have or making us have a smaller carbon footprint. Well….maybe not, let us take a look at this little get together:

More than 200,000 meals will be served and visitors will drink 200,000 cups of coffee — at least that will be organic.

Yes, they fail. But that again is simply a 'red herring' intended to detract from the real issue: how are we going to make changes that matter without doing untold harm to the people?

Oops I guess they forgot they were supposed to be taking it easy on those nasty carbon emissions.

'red herring'. . . .

You know on many levels I think we agree, but on this issue I feel you are off course. Yes, the elite are a bunch of wankers who talk a lot of talk and don't do anything to walk the walk. NO BIG SURPRISE HERE.

The fact that the elites are hypocrites does not detract from the rational that there is a chance humans are negatively impacting the environment and should there fore take some sort of action to ensure this is not the case.
