It's already happened. There seem to be quite alot of politicians, scientists and assorted riff raff who are on another planet when the subject turns to "global warming", "global cooling", "climate change" et al.

Don't worry about the pollution they're causing. As long as they pay their carbon credits they're okay.

Don't worry about whether anthropogenic global warming is real or not. Let's introduce a global carbon tax and tax the hell out of every single corporate industry on the planet.

After all, it's probably one of the most profitable policies in the world.

If you can think like that you'd be a great politician.
