NOTE: If this thread is posted in the wrong place please move to corect location.

Now granted NASA is just now coming up with the whole going to space and going to mars and re visiting the moon. great but why dont we just create a STARGATE UNIVERSE type ship and do what they did. make it unmaned and so that it can just travel and learn about types of planets and if you go further in space to tell us what the atomospher is like and if there is other planets we cant see obtaining life.

The Voyager probes are doing this:

Voyager 1 is about 16.596 billion kms from the sun and is nearing the very edge of the solar system.

There is another mission called New Horizons which is en route to Pluto and it's moons.

sorry if im misunderstanding you but i belive they already have. They are called satellites.

They travel through space doing exactly what you have just discribed
