United effort to find Pentagon's red balloons

The Pentagon has launched a competition to find 10 red weather balloons across the USA. Whoever collects the GPS coordinates of all 10 wins 40,000 usd.

The treasure hunt is designed to test how well people can coordinate with one another online and will award $40,000 to the first person to enter the GPS coordinates of all 10 balloons, accurate to within a mile. The 2.5-metre-diameter tethered balloons will be flown only in daylight, and taken down for the night.

Would you really want to assist this government/pentagon with an analysis of how efficient communications are on the web? Somebody quick ..... grab some slingshots......

Agreed, there is something fishy about this.
I'm certainly not going to participate.

I bet that someone wins this comp, in less than 2 hours.

Just my guess at the way civilian internet comms are today.

I will serve as coordinator. When you see a balloon U2U me. Everyone who contributes will share the prize (after I take my 10k cut). Really, you can trust me.

This has that strange feeling of a psychology experiment or focus group. The fact that they value the information they collect from the recipients of the award money to be worth no less then 40K, makes me wonder what they are really up to.
