Forgive me, but Star Wars Clone wars fully represents what may be unfolding in Afghanistan.
Are we training Taliban soldiers that will be turned against us and kill our troops? It makes perfect since for Mullah Omar to ask Taliban fighters to join the Afghanistan Police, Army "Armed Forces" to use them later in an assault on US soldiers.
Not only that, but if the non Taliban populace gets wind that we are leaving they will swing their allegiance to those who will be left behind. It's human nature.
It's already happening!
Are our leaders and Generals really so stupid as to not see this?
We are recruiting and training more each day!
Does no one see how insane it is to train and arm 400000 men in a country where corruption, terrorism and changing alliances is the normal way people live there?
What is the mission there? What national security issue there justifies the continued death of American troops and the no end expenditure of National Treasure?

Reuters McChrystal, in his review of the war in August, said Afghanistan would need a combined army and police force of 400,000 to be able to secure the country themselves. There are currently around 95,000 Afghan soldiers and 93,000 police.

It's all a front to keep our troops in the region for when/if an attack get's launched on Iran.
I don't know, but spending two hours reading the history of the region should be enough to figure out that it is a bad idea to train the enemy. Most of those people only want a paycheck so they can feed their family. It doesn't really matter who is cutting the check it only matters that they get paid.
