Top court: Eminent domain OK, Nets arena deal

— New York’s top court ruled Tuesday that the state can use eminent domain to force homeowners and businesses to sell their properties for a massive development in Brooklyn that includes a new arena for the New Jersey Nets.

This is as wrong as it gets folks. Exercising eminent domain and forcing people out of their homes so some jerckoff can build a new arena is not the proper use of the controversial governmental power of (ED).

Is this the new face of Socialism and Communism sparked by the economic success of China? Where Socialism supports private interests and Communism is ramped within corporate companies and our government.

Will welfare for corporations ever end in America? Will private interests ever stop receiving special handouts from our government?

In either case it is truly a sad day in NBA history.

Just goes to show that we all live on rented land.

The Supreme Court had already OK'ed this practice a while back if I am not mistaking.

I am also under the impression that Bush signed an order preventing this practice when the federal government is using eminent domain.

If the Nets owners can't fund their own arena, then they have no right building one IMO. I thought that what investors were for.

Somewhere Jay Z is sitting up high with a dirty smirk on his face.

He was instrument in this deal.

Let's see how those being removed love on him still....

Wake up time?

It would be very interesting to see if people would have the sense to boycott the Nets if all this takes place.

People just don't see the true potential power they have in their numbers. The threat of a few boycotted seasons would definitely put a huge damper on the Net's current owner's aspirations to sell the team to that Russian dude.

But I imagine it will inevitably just end up as business as usual.
