Japanese bulletproof armour

The japanese has done research over the years to develop a bullet proof armour for their special units.
Here is one of the mockups they designed.

I have this wierd feeling that this armour is a litle bit outdated

Funny that they would even consider something like that though.

The only thing it lacks is a big bullseye on the shield to make it easyer to target ...

black and white? oh yea, let see if that thing will stop a 7.62 mm rounds

As silly and outdated as it looks if I were in battle I would be the first one to put one on but I would tuck my legs under.

Yeah, considering they could mistake you for an age old sea turtle, might be the attacking force are nature activists and won't shoot and armed turtle

Kind of looks like a horseshoe crab to me. yeah, if I had one within arms reach and needed cover, I'd become a crab...you betcha!

Accutaly if you put some fake grass and moss on top you can be very hard to find.

The armour is too thin, I reckon this should be a failed experiment, bullents could still penetrate.
Though it might work if the "shell" is turned over and worn the other way, also chaning the design to being made steeper.

Type IV hard body armour will stop .3006 rounds with less than 44mm of deformation. However, they're not tested for multiple impacts the way softer body armours are.

you guys dare doubt the ability of Japan?? Remember, they got nuked twice by the almighty USA...and look where they are today. They are the most technologically advanced country and i have a gut feeling that we will all witness their power in the coming years.
They introduced America to the smaller more fuel efficient car, the cd player...camera phones! Im sure they have some heavy duty equipment for their armed forces, and like the US, dont use it.

It will work if you throw stones at it. Might become usefull in Israel

I have heard the same thing. However, it is hard to prove. There isn't any factual evidence that this type of armor exists within the country of Japan, at least not to my knowledge.
