This is so frickin' frustrating! What is this crap all about? Does anybody know if I'm being totally asinine for even considering any of the following true?

Well, I wish you hadn't put your question in quite those terms. But alas, the answer is yes.

I saw this on Drudge too.

If I had to guess who's doing it, I'd say Andy's long time friend and co-con man (though I can't remember his name).

He's in the documentary. He played an "audience member" in a lot of routines. Helped him stage alot of the stuff.

Consider it a tribute to the man who fooled everyone. I'm inclined to play along, and pretend Andy's alive.

Just remembered....the guy and Andy used to take turns playing this lounge singer character. Blue suit, big moustache. The schtick was half the time "Andy" performed it wasn't even Andy. This stunt is so up his alley.

The person who I think we should ask about this is SkepticOverlord/William. If I remember correctly, he's a fan of Andy Kaufman/Tony Clifton.

I'll U2U him about this thread if he hasn't seen it already.

It wouldn't surprise me if he really is alive though.

I was able to get this comment from Tony, "'dat no-good hack Kaufman has been riding on my coat tails with his lame attempts at humor all his life, and now dis unabashedly shameful attempt to take da limelight away from the truuuuuuuuest of the greatest entertainers dat ever lived -- yours truly -- is beyond reprehensible. "You can bet I will be speaking wit my legal aids about dis one. Yes you can be sure!" Andy... well done.

Let me guess, has he been working as a mechanic for a taxi company for the last 20 years?
