Recently I started to read some quotes, and thought maybe people here can post some of their favorite quotes, or even better make their own.
You dont have to be professional or it doesnt have to rhyme, but just a nice quote.

I'll start

“Live life with a goal, whether it’s big or small,
because without one all you are is just a lost soul.”

I'll share mine, it's my signature line, I thought it up thinking how people need to not be so focused thinking they have the vision or answers to everything, and mostly as a reminder to myself to stay open minded as I engage in some reading and posting here.

"So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life".

It's from the Green Day song "Good Riddance". To me it is just saying that the only purpose life has is what you make it. Your beliefs are shaped by personal experiences that are entirely unique to you. You look at your life and think what you could have done, or what you should have done but the reality is you wouldn't be who you are now as a person if it was for your past experiences. Also to just make the best of a current situation, and learn the lesson from everything you do and see.

Ok, here's two from DragonForce's "Black Fire"

"Why can't you see what their doing to me?
Is is fair that I'm dying in vain?"
and
"Why can't you see what their doing to thee?
Is it fair that you all die in vain?"

yeah, mull those over.

Don't do your best, do the best

I made that up...but it also goes along the lines of one that I take no credit for (below).

If you shoot for the moon and miss, you will still be among the stars.

COME ON PEOPLE, STRIVE FOR MORE!!!!

Since you are not being very specific, I will give my quote, it's under my sig. It is not nice nor mean, nor is it a work of poetry or a deep philosophical statement. It is simply a statement I always make to everyone I speak to because it is necessary that people are aware of this; you are not your ideas. You are a human being, so as long as I do not insult you as a person you have no reason to get angry at me for criticizing or questioning your beliefs.

Most people seem to be unable to separate themselves from their ideas. They relate to an idea. The problem this causes is that if an idea is refuted or proven false, then the person attached to the idea will have his/her entire worldview crashed. In fact, they even seem to forget that beliefs and ideas change constantly; one day you might not support the government, and another day several years later you might become a big government supporter. You might think of homosexuals as "sinners" who deserve to go to hell, and the next day your belief system might change completely and you'll become accepting of them.

so, there is my signature quote, which I wrote myself. If some obscure philosopher wrote the exact same thing let me know in advance to credit him/her with the idea.

“Here is my final point. About drugs, about alcohol, about pornography and smoking and everything else. What business is it of yours what I do, read, buy, see, say, think, who I #, what I take into my body - as long as I do not harm another human being on this planet?” - Bill Hicks

Not a quote. A very short story.

"Did I ever tell you what I like most about the night?

It's darkness is sincere. It's way more honest than the light of day.The streets are empty. The city is silent.

All those people, lying in the comfort of their beds, sound asleep.

People stop pretending and become themselves. They stop pretending that they aren't miserable. They have dreams of better lives. Lives they never had. People they never met. Places they never went to. Feelings they never experienced. Love they never got a chance to feel in real life. And they're at peace...

They dream of things they want to have. Things they never got a chance to see while they're awake, going about their daily routine.

They're happy.

Some of them have nightmares. Nightmares that are so horrifying that they wake up with a scream. They wake up into reality only to realize that the nightmare was much better...

Did I ever tell you what I like most about the night? It allows people to be themselves. It allows them to be sincere. It doesn't judge them for silly things they may be thinking.

I once heard a story of a man who was happy just because every time he went to bed he dreamt of flying. He died with a smile on his lips and I just hope, I really hope, that when he drew his last breath he fell asleep and had that same dream that made him happy throughout his life.

I really bloody hope that that's what heaven's like..."
