USS New York, built with steel from Twin Towers

www.timesonline.co.uk

The USS New York, a new battleship built with steel from the World Trade Center, sailed into New York harbour today on its maiden voyage and delivered a 21-gun salute near Ground Zero.
The $1 billion US Navy assault vessel, whose bow includes 7.5 tonnes of steel recycled from the 2001 terror attack, will be officially commissioned in its namesake city on Saturday.
Rescue workers and families of those killed in the attack gathered on the Manhattan waterfront to watch the 684ft warship glide up...

Has anyone put any thought into the notion that this # was built to destroy any lingering evidence of explosives used in or around the buildings on 9/11? I base this on nothing other than a random thought. Just curious about the opinions of others. Just seems kind of strange that they decided to do this with the twin towers given that no outside source has be given open clearance to investigate other possibilities yet.

Not likely, they used only a small amount of steel from the towers. There was a show on Discovery, or History Channel about it, and the only part of the ship that is made of steel from the towers is the bulbous section of the bow, below the water.

Wiki link

The steel was melted down at Amite Foundry and Machine in Amite, Louisiana, to cast the ship's bow section. It was poured into the molds on 9 September 2003, with seven tons cast to form the ship's "stem bar" — part of the ship's bow.

I hate to use Wiki for reference, but I'm pretty sure it's accurate.

What strikes me is that Sailors, all sailors have a tradition of believing in luck, jinxed ships and superstition.

To have part of a doomed building in your ship, one from which nearly 3,00people died in, cannot be 'lucky'.
I bet if you could talk to the sailors off the record, they wouldn't be happy about it.

We should follow this ship's service closely, see if it is jinxed.

i doubt they would even go so far as to build a ship to cover up any evidence of an inside job. they could melt it down and use it for anything- steel rebar inside a bridge or building probably wouldnt be seen for many decades. or they could just melt it down and sell it again.

the WTC steel was used as a patriotic thing to inspire the crew and the nation.
