Yeah, I didn't even know about this.
If they have a travel ban on people with HIV, then there should be a ban on people with all various other diseases such as Flu's, mental disorders, allergies etc...
I mean come on now, AIDS is no longer a pandemic here and never really was. Africa is different story, but it's not like tourists come here to get laid.
Sad that a stigma over something as simple as HIV has been carried on for so long.

“We lead the world when it comes to helping stem the AIDS pandemic, yet we are one of only a dozen countries that still bar people with HIV from entering,” Obama said today at the White House. “If we want to be the global leader in combating HIV/AIDS we need to act like it.”
Obama made the announcement as he signed the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Treatment Extension Act of 2009, reauthorizing a federal program that provides HIV-related health care.

And since you and your wife havn'nt caught it, you know that it is not that easy to get.
They have medications now that are bordering on curing it. It is not very catchy, the stigma should of died out long ago.
This is a good move, and the fear should of died in the 80s where it started.
