"The theory is volcanic activity in the Cambrian sea water caused a build up of calcium and thus forced single cell organisms to become multi cell

I reply;
i'm thinking.... IF the early lifeforms back then
were like the lifeforms we are finding at the underwater 'vents' today,
then the life would not necessarily been oxygen breathers/metabolisers
...as the present day underwater lifeforms living around these 'Hot Vents' thrive on Sulphuric Acid not oxygen and sunlight
Even the 'normal' but quite differently Adaped (albino looking) Shrimp
that inhabit those hot waters around the Vents are taking a turn in their normal evolutionary path.
~but the other indigenous populations of the 'Thermal Vents' are
completely different than all other sea-life species.
are our oceans, then & today, filled with 'Thermal Vent' Failures?
life forms that branched out from the proximity of the Hot Vents?
