To the Red Meat causes cancer growth skeptics, here are some sources for you:

1. Science news article titled: How eating red meat can spur cancer progression;

2. the link to the actual study: evidence for a human specific mechanism for diet and antibody-mediated inflammation in carcinoma progression.

3. article about a study called: markers for inflammation discovered in breast cancer survivors are linked to survival

4. article with sources and name of study (dietary patterns and breast cancer risk in the shanghai breast cancer study): study links breast cancer to western diet

(Id recommend starting with the first two red meat articles)

So i think you'll find that i do have any sources to back up my information, from reputable scientists and universities. if you want to see any other of my sources - i have some about the seaweed and iodine studies - just ask me and ill post links for you. i havent bothered to date, because it seems to me that a lot of the 'skeptics' or whatever here have their own preconceived notions - and probably wont read the studies i post anyway (since they already aparantly know beforehand that for any study i post, they can post two against it)).

article one - red meat

red meat study link - or you can google the study title

article no. 3

no. 4

maybe you should be asking why none of these findings was put on the nine o clock news when every minor drug breakthrough is.

and also the book the china study is based on a joint study by several VERY prominent and respected universities including HARVARD. dismiss it at your peril.

ps to the person who said the diet was boring - well - yeah... i see your point. the reason im on it is that ive had cancer, so i have to be. if you dont have cancer then i guess its your choice - im not lecturing people, since i used to live principally on chocolate cake and energy drinks once upon a time. but the thing is, its not really so bad once you find alternatives for things - and you can still eat deserts if you're careful about whats been put in them. its not so bad now - i actually enjoy it, and even if i wasnt sick; wudnt go back to how i ate before. i feel so much better/healthier on this diet.

Using specially bred mouse models that lacked the Neu5Gc molecule – mimicking humans before the molecule is absorbed into the body through ingesting red meat – the researchers induced tumors containing Neu5Gc, and then administered anti-Neu5Gc antibodies to half of the mice. In mice that were given antibodies inflammation was induced, and the tumors grew faster. In the control mice that were not treated with antibodies, the tumors were less aggressive.

The title should be: How genetically modified rats lacking the Neu5Gc molecule are susceptible to increased tumor growth.

Genetically modified rats? This is not very convincing, at all.

However, humans are genetically deficient in Neu5Gc production and instead metabolically accumulate Neu5Gc from dietary sources, particularly red meats and milk products.

This sounds all too familiar. Sort of like how the over consumption of purines, found in red meat, leads to high levels of uric acid in the blood, which causes gout. Though red meat is full of purines, it does not contribute to the formation of gout.

3. article about a study called: markers for inflammation discovered in breast cancer survivors are linked to survival

OK, what does this have to do with red meat and dairy? I've seen studies that suggest CRP can easily be reduced by regularly consuming fish oil.

4. article with sources and name of study (dietary patterns and breast cancer risk in the shanghai breast cancer study): study links breast cancer to western diet

This observational study simply links a "western diet" to increased incidences in breast cancer. That's it. How do you know that it's not just the sugar? Or a synergistic effect of sugar and dairy, or sugar and meat.

Meta-analysis of animal fat or animal protein intake and colorectal cancer

Conclusion: On the basis of the results of this quantitative assessment, the available epidemiologic evidence does not appear to support an independent association between animal fat intake or animal protein intake and colorectal cancer.

Mortality in British vegetarians: results from the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition

Conclusions: The mortality of both the vegetarians and the nonvegetarians in this study is low compared with national rates. Within the study, mortality from circulatory diseases and all causes is not significantly different between vegetarians and meat eaters, but the study is not large enough to exclude small or moderate differences for specific causes of death, and more research on this topic is required.

It's another great tactic used to put us on the wrong track yet again. The food industry and the agricultural industry, as it stands now, is not in the business of promoting health.

There's been hundreds of studies dating over a hundred years which proves without any doubt whatsoever that eating animal protein is counter productive to health. However, we want to believe that if that was the case, health authorities would readily inform us.

Is there any incentive to keeping people misinformed about that simple fact? The agricultural industry and healthcare industry both thrive on this misconception. And it's propagated by the training of the medical community who are not shown any of the studies which prove that fact.

Medical studies used by medical schools, their curriculum and syllabus are all hand picked from referenced material in the national archive of medicine. There are hundreds of thousands of studies which the archive refuses to reference. Thus, the medical community doesn't get to see them. Of course, it makes sense why. There is no financial incentive to train our medical profession with this knowledge. But again, it is there for anyone willing to look at it (outside of institutional walls).

This brief video focuses on one such study...

Campbell?

You're referring to the guy who said:

“Eating foods that contain any cholesterol above 0 mg is unhealthy.”

The same guy who serves on the advisory board for the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine(PCRM), an organization full of militant vegetarians with obvious ties with PETA.

Think this guy is biased?

Throughout the entirety of The China Study(the actual study), sugar consumption is hardly ever mentioned.

Also, Campbell jumps from 'Casein causes cancer' to 'All animal protein causes cancer.' Is that generalization really warranted?

Campbell spent nearly 20 pages discussing the auto-immune diseases caused by the consumption of cows milk, yet he never mentions the auto-immune diseases caused by wheat gluten.

He raved about Dr. Dean Ornish and his findings yet never once mentioned Dr. Weston Price's study of primitive people who relied heavily on animal-based food, nor did he mention George Mann's research on the Masai.

Thanks for the data, Mr. Campbell, now lets have objective, non-biased scientists analyze them.

And to suggest that this information isn't presented in the mainstream is ridiculous. High Carbohydrate diets are strongly suggested by health authorities more so than any diet containing moderate to high amounts of fat OR protein.

Here is a personal "study". My mother was diagnosed with diabetes last year. She doesn't have to take medication. Why? Because she controlls it with diet. And she hasn't even gone as far as becomming a vegen or anything.

An individual anecdote really has no relevance in nutritional science. That said, I don't doubt for one second that your mom can control her diabetes with her diet.

Also, by your post, can I guess you feel that unhealthy food is just as good for us as healthy food?

That's an unfortunate assumption on your part.

Ever see "Super Size Me"?

Supersize Me is a great way to scare people from eating fast food while trying to convince them that the problem is fat, overeating and being sedentary. No sane person would eat as much as that guy did. He literally ate til he was sick. If anything, people eat to feel good, not to be physically sick.

Another thing that bothered me about that movie was the scene where his Doctor told him to stop eating so much fat cause it's increasing his blood lipids. It was not the fat that increased his Triglycerides to such a dangerous level, it was the carbohydrates. Go back and watch that movie again and tell me how often it focused on the consumption of refined carbohydrates.

As far as the OP goes. I've been wanting to eat better lately.

If you want to eat better, get your advice from someone who understands biochemistry. My suggestion, a Certified Nutrition Specialist(CNS)

just thought i might mention that on a program on channel 2 called 'catching cancer', they noted how the rates of cancer in residents that were exposed to the hiroshima blast were suprisingly LOW. they cant figure out for the life of them, why or how this could be.

in fact based on another anti cancer book - you're statistically more likely to get cancer if you live in the USA than if you were exposed to the hiroshima bomb blast and live in japan.

guess why?

Diet i imagine.

the japanese diet must be amazingly protective against cancer if it can stand up to hiroshima radiation exposure. they DO eat a lot of seaweed, soy and mainly a vegetarian diet with bok choy etc. and they DONT eat any dairy; and until the introduction of maccas to japan recently, they didnt really eat red meat either. they ate fish.

TUMERIC AND SWINE FLU
also wanted to tell people that studies show curcumin (tumeric) is effective at killing the swine flu virus - studies by indian scientists and researches. again if anyone wants the link to the article/study let me know. might do a thread on this in a minute.

actually, i've heard that eating too many apple seeds can be deadly...

Cyanides are produced by certain bacteria, fungi, and algae and are found in a number of foods and plants. Cyanides are found, although in small amounts, in certain seeds and stones, e.g. those of apple, mango, peach, and bitter almonds. In plants, cyanides are usually bound to sugar molecules in the form of cyanogenic glycosides and defend the plant against herbivores.

en.wikipedia.org...

In fact, if you eat enough apple seeds or cherry pits, you could die. Apple seeds contain cyanogenic acids. Cherry pits, and seeds from related fruits, including peaches, plums, almonds, pears, and apricots, contain cyanogenic glycosides. Your body can detoxify small quantities of cyanide compounds. If you accidentally eat a cherry pit in a pie or swallow an apple seed or two, you'll be fine. Actually, if you swallow several seeds whole, you would absorb a minimal amount of the toxic compounds. Chewing the seeds makes them much more hazardous to your health. Children and pets are much more likely to suffer poisoning from eating the seeds than adults.

Symptoms of mild poisoning include headache, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, and vomiting. Larger doses can lead to difficulty breathing, increased blood pressure and heart rate, and kidney failure. Reactions can include coma, convulsions, and death from respiratory arrest. There are several treatment options, but the main thing is to limit the absorption of the chemicals from the seeds. Basically, this means it's important to seek immediate medical attention if a child or pet is known to have eaten several seeds. Usually, the plan of action is to pump the stomach or induce vomiting. Antidotes are available, but they are somewhat controversial. If you or someone you know eats a seed or two, don't worry... as I said, your body is well-equipped to detoxify small quantities of cyanide compounds. They naturally occur in several foods. However, if you were wondering whether or not it's true that the seeds and pits are toxic and potentially lethal... yes, apple seeds and cherry pits are poisonous.

chemistry.about.com...

...their pips (seeds) contain amygdalin, a cyanide and sugar compound that degrades into hydrogen cyanide (HCN) when metabolized. Cyanide itself is a poison that kills by denying blood the ability to carry oxygen and thereby causes its victims to die of Apple asphyxiation. At least within the realm of murder mysteries, cyanide is the darling of poisoners because it acts quickly and irrevocably — once a fatal dose has been ingested, there is no effective antidote, and death takes place within minutes. It is sometimes described as having a bitter almond smell, but it does not always give off an odor, nor can everyone detect the scent. Cyanide is usually found joined with other chemicals in compounds: hydrogen cyanide, cyanogen chloride, sodium cyanide, and potassium cyanide. In the death camps of World War II, the Nazis used hydrogen cyanide (Zyklon B) for their gas chambers.

www.snopes.com...

i'm sure you'll be fine if you eat less than a handful of seeds though, which i highly doubt anyone purposely eats that much anyway...

Hello ,
I hope you will find this information helpful and educational as I did and hope you will take it seriously. I just wish I could have found it sooner. You are about to find out about research you probably never knew existed and you are surely not going to hear it from your doctor. It is researched by Brian Peskin from MIT (Electrical Engineer) He lectures to cancer and heart doctors all over the county. They seek him out for his research. Lots of his research comes directly from medical school textbooks in biochemistry and medical physiology, medical journals and Nobel price winner (1931 from Germany) Dr Otto Warburg MD Phd. Why our doctors don't tell us this especially when we need it the most is baffling. He connects the dots in the cancer and heart disease issue like no one I have ever read. I take this research extremely seriously.

Just to let you know where I am coming from and why I take this research so seriously. My mother had breast cancer, my sister died of cancer in Feb of 2010. I had colon cancer and the surgeon removed 10 inches of colon and I reluctantly did about 6 or 7 rounds of chemo (about 1 every 3 weeks. When I took my last treatment it was discovered my wife had breast cancer and had to have a double mastectomy with 4 rounds of chemo. My sister passed away with edometrial cancer and fortunately my mother only a mastectomy . My wife and I are doing great now. We follow Brian Peskin's (The Hidden Story Of Cancer) recommendations almost to the letter. My sister it is sad to say would have nothing to do his recommendations. She said she was going to do exactly what the doctor said and no more. She said if this was that important the doctor would know about it. Well he didn't know about it and it is important. Just because he did not have a clue of its existence does not mean it is not important. He sure didn't learn it in his training as a doctor. Its not his fault as he is doing the best he can with what he was taught to do. That's the sad part as doctors as they learn only chemical drugs and not anything natural.
It must be said here we give our doctors a lot more credit for what we think they know than they know. I was listening to one of Brian Peskin's lectures before a group and in his talk he made the statement to look to person on your left and look to the person on your right, there is almost a 50% chance if you are a women and almost 73% chance if you are a man to have cancer in your life time. Think of that when you look at the photograph in the beginning of this resource. One does not need to know the science behind this only that it work. I can't tell you how when I turn on the lights by switch understand how it works but it does or understand gravity. But you will surely know gravity works if you jump off a 10 story building.

Brian wrote the book called The Hidden Story Of Cancer. I have also enclosed other articles besides what is attached and written by the Brian Peskin. If you have any questions I will be glad to try to help. I am no expert or medical professional but just a regular person who has studied this research for the past 2-3 years. The book is where I got the idea to write a resource. I told Brian Peskin I was so impressed with his discoveries that I wanted to write a resource to give out at no charge.. He made some suggestions etc. and formatted it for me and think it turned out great. I hope you like it. If you want please make suggestions on what changes I need to make to make the resource better and as I have said give it away.

Purchase the book when you can. It is a lot better than what I write and you will not be sorry to have in your reading room. You will know 100% more than any doctor knows about this research. Here are some additional links that I have not put in the resource yet but are included here. I talked to Brian on one occasion and don't remember of much of what he said, but I do remember he said to me if you are in remission now and you follow my suggestions you will not ever have to worry about cancer coming back. And also if you want to prevent cancer follow is recommendations. He is about prevention.. I have read where others recovered from cancer in stage IV using his suggestions. You are giving what the body needs on a daily basis and that is essential fatty acids....(Omega 6/3 in an unadulterated form that is organic and cold pressed)

If you would like the complete resource sent by attachment..I give away free...
this research needs to be out there

I am most convinced that the pure carnivore diet is the best and most healthy diet for humans. Especially red meat. Grains are poison to the body, and refined flour and sugar are the main causes of cancers. A pure carnivore diet will not lead to diabetes, obesity, cancers, or heart disease, and more often can cure them if they exist.

Bravo! We're big believers of using natural foods in the treatment of whole health and minimizing disease. Depends on your lifestyle but if you do nothing else, following a natural and whole food regiment can yield amazing benefits to energy, disease resistance, and weight loss. We started a glycemic index list and diet last year and now we have the kids on it and have never felt better. Especially with early signals of heart disease. Get help and plan your foods accordingly to get on the right track.

When i did my Personal Training qualifications, the first page of the text book was about the diet of the Hunza.

It outlined most of the eating habits you talk about, and says that disease is virtualy unheard of among their people.

Make you think.
