I think the term "diversity" is misused. I went to a fairly liberal university. Diversity meant people of different races that all subscribed to
the same liberal beliefs.
In this day and age there is little need to force diversity. Most employers who are looking for the very best people to fill jobs will end up hiring
a diverse workforce anyway. People from non-WASP backgrounds will often have marketable skills that might not be present in WASP's.
For example, my father used to have many Spanish speaking customers. He used to hire Spanish speaking people to serve the Spanish speaking customers.
These Spanish speaking employees were often Hispanic.
Another example is that many companies are trying to do business in foreign markets like India, China, and Latin America. They need people who are
familiar with these countries languages and culture and have connections in these countries. The people who meet these criteria will often be from
non-WASP backgrounds.
