The Ouija Board

In 1853, M. Planchette a frenchman invented a device that would be named after him.
The planchette, a small, heart shaped table with pencils attached to it's legs.
Those who used it claimed that it operated by spirit force and ghosts were able to write
out messages.



With the coming of the spiritualism movement a new device was created...the ouija board.
EC Reiche a cabinet and coffin maker from Maryland created a new method of communicating
with the dead. He created a wooden lap tray with the letters of the alphabet arranged in two
lines across the center of the board. Bellow these letters, he placed the numbers 1-10 and
the words Yes and No in each lower corner of the board. Rieche kept the planchette
connected to his board but removed the pencil tips and placed wooden pegs on the
bottom of it.

It has been said that the ouija board was named ouija by Reiche because ouija was a
combination of the French and German words for yes..inturth it was named ouija because
Reiche thought that ouija was Egyptian for luck.

The board was sold to a friend of Reiche's Charles Kennard(the first producer of the ouija
board)...Kennard Novelty Co. Kennards shop manager William Fuld, decided to go into
business for himself and begin producing the ouija board that he re-named Fuld's
talking board. Oddly, Fuld took his own life What makes ouija boards work and
what makes them dangerous When you begin using a ouija board,
you are opening a gateway to the other side and asking anything and everything to come
through. You have no control of who can and will try to come through. Things may start
of innocent enough, the board answering simple questions, leading you to believe that
you are communicating with a dead friend of loved one or someone famous,
when in fact you may be communicating with something...else.

When communications take a turn for the worse, it's a common belief that by no longer
using the board or by getting rid of it all the negative effects will stop.
This is not true, the gateway is still open, and you will still experience the negative
effects until it is closed. A trained paranormal investigator or demonologist
should be contacted to close the gateway.

Actually it's been proven that most occurances with the ouiji boards are actual forces. I'd never use one.

Quija boards are just for fun, I had my first one when I was 16 my favorite uncle gave to me 3 years later he die of a masive heart attact he was only 34, I stop playing with the quija board after that because I became afraid that he was going to comunicate with me, it was back in 1979, the quija borad is still at my parents home.

Ouija boards scare the hell out of me. When I was a kid I read a book about horrible things happening to teenagers who used them like one girl she tried to stop using it and things in her room kept getting broken and all her clothes and stuff would be thrown out of her closet and draws when she was only out of the room for a second and no one else went in there.

I don't think I could ever get over the fear. I mean why take the risk of something really bad happening? *shivers* Scary.

I would have to disagree. My own experiences were certainly strange, but definately not body shaking. I was 100% skeptic, but to this day I cannot explain what happened.

same here. After i used the board, i was totally convinced that it wasn't down to someone pushing the glass,etc. Me and my friend tried pushing the glass to find an explaination, but it was ruled out due to the glass kept on increasing its speed during the session. What ever it was, i don't want to find out.

Ya I liked how I bought my magical ouija from wal-mart ....I think 'parker brothers' made it....

Talk about crap ..I sold it 2 days after getiing for 5$ because it was a joke...

If a spirit or ghost is able to communicate with us why the hell do they wait untill sombody breaks out a piece of card board from wal-mart???

why dont they just pick up a pen and start righting on the walls or something???

if the board is there to act as a kind of medium through which the dead can reply what if someone designed a computer keypad board that everyone placed there hands on. i wonder if the spirit would push the keys. if it can move a glass it could push keys?

ya I think that if a ghost could move a glass or whatever then pushing a key would be much eaiser...thats a pretty good idea...Im gonna send a letter to the makers of monopoly and see if we can market the new ghost communication program to wal-mart

in my personal experience when i had a STRONG connection and attempted to direct the planchette it tipped on its side

The Ouija board is like having your front door open all the time with a sign saying "anybody welcome". The problem is with that, is that anybody can come through your door. This is way Ouija boards can prove to be very dangerous.

I say stay clear of this things... I dunno maybe it's just me but I'm not keen on the idea of advertising to anything in the spirit world to come on by and use your energy to manifest.... too much of a temptation for the baddies out there.
