USGS and RSOE are reporting magnitude 8 earthquakes in Vanuatu/Solomon Islands.

Currently we are watching for a tsunami warning or watch.

This magnitude of earthquake is expected to collapse most buildings, displace railroad tracks, large cracks may appear in the ground.

Please let anyone who is in the area know to watch this situation.

I posted a new thread because now there have been three earthquakes one after the other and around similar magnitutes in that area. The first one 7.8, then 15 minutes later another one struck in the same area as a magnitude 7.3, and almost an hour later another one struck magnitude 7.1

Let's hope these earthquakes are releasing pressure, and not a warning of more and stronger earthquakes.

There was also another earthquake of magnitude 6.7 south of the Phillipines at the Celebes Sea.

That's right where the 8.0 hit a few weeks ago.
Man I knew I stayed up for a reason.
I was just on USGS then when I got here I saw your post .
So it must have been shakin when I was looking.

I see some one posted about Niburu.
To be a little childlike about the matter of these earthquakes that
only because of their location, location, location we've been lucky.

Just imagine the power of Niburu being so great, it rips the earth apart.
Can't imagine the horror of seeing that fist plate go careening up into the sky.

These quakes people seem to race to get the posts up so you're gonna
end up with at least to two or three.
I remember trying to race to get one of them up.
It was all blowed up when I was done.
You could barely tell it was a quake I was talking about.I just told the Mods to trash it.

That would be like saying every Obama, and every 9/11 article should be in one thread only. If there are any developing news, like another earthquake, members don't have to post in that link you gave, they can make a new thread.

There would be very few threads if they were all lumped together you know?

There was a big one around the rim this morning in the Santa Cruz islands in California. (or Kolipfohnia as the governor calls it).

This increased quake/tsunami activity certainly fits with webbot data, although you could argue that we will always have earthquakes in a given year.

As the OP it certainly won't hurt my feelings to take the thread in any direction you guys want. I presented it as information only to warn folks in the area.
