Egyptian lawmakers want to ban fake hymen

Conservative Egyptian lawmakers have called for a ban on imports of a Chinese-made kit meant to help women fake their virginity and one scholar has even called for the "exile" of anyone who imports or uses it.


The Artificial Virginity Hymen kit, distributed by the Chinese company Gigimo, costs about $30. It is intended to help newly married women fool their husbands into believing they are virgins — culturally important in a conservative Middle East where sex before marriage is considered by many to be illicit. The product leaks a blood-like substance when inserted and broken.

Gigimo advertises shipping to every Arab country. But the company did not answer e-mails and phone calls seeking comment on whether it had orders from Egypt or other parts of the Middle East.

The fracas started when a reporter from Radio Netherlands broadcast an Arabic translation of the Chinese advertisement of the product. That set off fears of conservative parliament members that Egyptian women might start ordering the kits.

Sheik Sayed Askar, a member of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood who is on the parliamentary committee on religious affairs, said the kit will make it easier for Egyptian women to give in to temptation. He demanded the government take responsibility for fighting the product to uphold Egyptian and Arab values.

I just finished watching the 2002 Movie TIME TRAVELER.

I've spent the further time watching michio kaku, and hitchens debates.

I've always learned about dinosaurs.

All in all, this gives you a mind set i'm in.

The fact that a woman, must go through such extremes, to fake a hymen (virginity).... is just simply rEdiculous! stress the e.

We can travel to other planets (maybe not back lol) we can contemplate time travel.

We can understand a small part of quantum mechanics.

We can fly around the world in little time.

We can build atomic bombs.

Yet for some reason... a womans virginity, is somehow numero uno, on peoples thoughts!

No one, should ever feel the need to 'fake' their virginity.

Furthermore, no one should be allowed to stop a product which, may in fact help these poor women.

As for this.

Any single woman, in my mind, if she wants to have sex...gasp... so be it!

Who am I, to damn one to death, or to announce disgust, for a natural feeling.

Even more, no woman should feel disgusted and go through, the measures they seemingly are going through to make it go away.

You live but once, and troubling it in whether or not you can prove your a virgin.... is just an atrocity.

Is it not interesting how males are pressured into doing the opposite?
Although this hymen thing (love to see a photo) seems nuts it's certainly going to make people sit up and think a little.

No doubt Hitchens will piss his pants laughing when he hears of this.

I would be interested to know from those with white coats, whether there is any link between this cultural obsession (or memory of) virginity and pedophilia.

Could there be a deep rooted subconscious confusion in a male of a secular society that has not come to terms with a previously indoctrinated notion that virginity is paramount kind of like a mental artefact ?

Don't know if I'm phrasing my question clearly there but to this day no one seems to have a clear cut answer as to why some men act in this way and few are willing to discuss it.

Oh, and before anyone flame me for implying that all arabs etc are pedophiles, I'm talking about all cultures.

I think this has a deep rooted amount of, territorial subject matter.

As men we are territorial, and women, are our territory, (bitch moan as you will ZF),

It's instinctive, if we have sex with a person it's territorial, she is known as ours in our mind.

regardless of caring, subconsciously though, it may reign true.

Males want to lose virginity for it means manhood.

Females want to keep it, for innocent reasons.

It's all a knew prospect for those, just realizing our newfound thought process'!

A Balance will be found of course/hopefully.

When I was young/er I felt a deep need to end my virginity, before I knew of anything else, elementary school, hell kindergarten, presented me that I was to old to be a virgin!

I don't know, or could even propose an idea for pedophilia, as (i'm on who likes my women older...screw you, I like em older mate!!).

It's actually not funny at all when you consider that in the middle east, women can be stoned, killed, or permanently disfigured by their husbands (with no repercussions) if it is found out that they are not virgins. Even if they had been raped as a child, which is quite common.

When women are raped or sexually abused in the middle east, the fault lies with them, not the man. Honor killings are rampant.

So, please don't judge them by our western standards. A fake hymen might be the only thing staning between them and death.

Also, in Egypt, little girls as young as six are forcibly removed of their clitoris by using unsterile blades or even scissors. It is called Female Genital Mutilation. And it's even worse in African countries....they not only remove the clitoris, but they also sew up the vagina. Why? So women cannot enjoy sex. They figure, if they can't enjoy sex, they can't cheat on their husband.

Research Female Genital Mutilation (FMG). Research the culture of rape and sexual abuse in the middle east before you laugh and say "this is so funny."

The women in those countries are probably scared out of their wits most of the time. Imagine being raped at a young age, married off without your consent, then terrified that you will be killed or shamed or disfigured with acid if it is found out that you are not a virgin on your wedding day.

So....now that you know this...ask yourself this: Why would the Egyptian government outlaw a fake hymen? So they can still continue to control and punish the women for their sexual behavior and/or continue to blame women for being raped.

It's abhorrent how the men treat the women in these countries. But what's worse is how we turn a blind eye because we want their oil, and we don't want to get involved with "culturally sensitive issues."

I think I speak for alot of people when I say

I cant even imagine what, and how these women do this. Its not to say that the need isnt there, but the fact that its a "at home kit" instead of something being performed by a doctor disturbs me. So much can go wrong- and it can lead to cancers, infections, and infertility. I feel sorry for anyone who feels that they have to go to this extent to please a man.

I think this kit just highlights the absurdity of the notion that women have to be virgins on their wedding nights in some cultures.

I've also heard of other tricks that are used by women who have lost their virginity including timing the wedding day for when they begin to menstruate and using pills to help it along.

Faking virginity isn't a new thing, it's been going for on FOR AGES.

The fact that some men can be deceived so easily, makes them look like even bigger schmucks. I guess being first at all costs is a big thing with incredibly insecure people even if it's just in their mind and not reality.

For some reason I was under the impression that the kit was bits of pink plastic and fake blood ?

Now that we have an endless supply of reconditioned virgins the Jihad can commence. At 72 virgins a pop the virgin bank was in danger of running dry, but thanks to China we can have a virgin anytime we want. Wait a minute................................................If we get a virgin anytime we want, what do we need Jihad for?
