This is old news , but still worth posting .

How many people are even aware this case and the court rulings?

The court ruling involves Fox News, but it affects all news medias.

The fact is there is no law, rule or regulation that says the news media has to tell the truth.

And thats what the courts ruled.

Does it suprise anyone how little media coverage this story got?
The truth is out there , you just have to find it.

Fox General Manager:
"We paid $3 billion for these television stations, we'll
decide what the news is. The news is what we tell you it is."

Over the years FCC commissioners have laid out some clear standards defining under what circumstances it would act against deliberate misrepresentation of the news in broadcasting, saying that the broadcasting of falsehoods is not enough.

Courts Rule in Akre/Wilson rBGH Case That the Media Can Deliberately Lie

February 14 handed down by the Court of Appeal of the Florida Second
District. In that verdict the Court in essence said technically it is not
against any law, rule, or regulation to deliberately lie or distort the news
on a television broadcast.

While I dont want to defend liars, I will defend the right to free speech.

This sounds like something we all know anyways, so at least we take the power away from the lies.

We just have to help others critically think and come to the same conclusions.

I always knew they lied on the news, but I didn't know it was legal!

The news should come with a disclaimer "Based on a true story...or maybe not"

wjile this may be legal,,,, it's still wrong,,,,,, we have a contract of goodwill with our "news"

we expect honesty and integrity,,, and we should get it

we can change this,,,, by never turning on those news channels and writing to every company advertising on that channel
but hence we may miss american idol

like be franklin said,,,,, a republic,,,, if you can keep it
that staement is so profound and applies to many aspects of our lives and culture

we certainly have failed that staement

here's the vid i believe coresponds to this story
