This explosion isnt too far away from me, living just 5 miles south of where the Plastics/chemical factory is located. Although I didnt hear any explosion I know that the local Fire Brigade are out (along with 100 other firefighters and specialist crew) fighting this blaze.

Luckily it occured on a Friday evening so noone confirmed was actually working in/near the factory in question, thats still not to say wether anyone is confirmed missing or not yet though.

What direction is the wind blowing ?

Are you downwind of the area effected .

severe fire in a plastics factory.

Severe source of carcinogens for those in the immediate vicinity i would imagine.
Hope no body got seriously hurt .

Luckily the wind direction is taking all the smoke Eastwards over Kinder Scout, possibly residents in Hayfield would be warned about the dangers but with it being 2.30am now and a cold/overcast day when the incident occured I would say a vast majority already had the windows shut anyway.

No word still on any casualties, however homes within 500m of the area have had some damage from Debris fallen on their roof.
