in thread search and drop down menu

Can we have an "in thread search" option? I know that I can ctrl/apple F to search a page but I think that it would be useful to be able to do a search string on an entire thread--especially for those really great, really long threads. While we're at it, how about a drop down menu to select forums in the new thread page, this might direct threads to the most appropriate forum most easily.
