Hello everyone,

It's time to vote!

Last year, Project 10^100 invited the world to submit ideas to help as many people as possible. We received over 154,000 submissions, which we narrowed down to our favorites.

Now, you're invited to view the ideas and vote for the ones you think will help the most people.

Our advisory board will use your votes to identify the best ideas for further consideration, and we've committed $10 million to make up to 5 of them a reality.

Hurry, voting ends October 8, 2009.

Thanks for your help. Please vote! And may those who help the most win.

- The Project 10^100 Team

Q: Google originally said that users would be able to vote on 100 ideas. Why are there only 16?
A: Each of the 16 finalist ideas actually represents a much larger number of related ideas. Ultimately, we recognized that many of the ideas we'd received were similar and could be strengthened by being combined with other ideas to create a new approach to solving the big problems that users wanted to tackle.

Q: What if another person submits an idea that is similar to my entry? A: The purpose of Project 10^100 is to identify great ideas and bring them to life. If an idea is selected that is similar to yours, and it succeeds, everybody wins. That's the spirit of this program and we hope all entrants will embrace it.

It looks to me that they were just casting a net to get ideas for themselves with no intention of sharing the money with the person(s) that came up with the idea.

That was pretty clear from the onset. They said they'd put aside 10 million dollars to make any of the ideas happen, not that they'd pay any of that to the originator.

"Q: What do I get if my idea is chosen? A: You get good karma and the satisfaction of knowing that your idea might truly help a lot of people."

Yep. What kind of idiot would give away ideas? To google?

Edit: To the OP, next time actually read the link you post. Ok?

Some of the answers were added recently. People were led to believe that they were going to profit from this. I personally entered two, but I would not give enough detail that anything could be made. I suspected that something like this would happen.

This seems to be the most reasonable:

Make government more transparent

1. Create a "govwatch" program that allows people to enter in geographic and other info and get back information about bills/laws that affect them

2. Empower individual voters with both online, real-time data on their political representatives' activity, and tools to analyze, engage and influence outcomes

3. Increase the transparency of laws, eliminate duplicate ones and communicate them better to affected citizens

4. Share information on how municipalities and states use public funds

I never thought google would be on the frontline of the planetary human rights movement with me. q:

These are actually some good ideas, but most of them wont change anything in a reasonable timeframe.

Create genocide monitoring and alert system-
Applies to 3rd world nations only, what happens when a developed country commits genocide? Nobody knows about it, and it remains in secret. *cough h1n1*

Enhance science and engineering education-
Ok education is important, but who controls the education system will continue to influence what is being taught. Google or no Google.

Promote health monitoring and data analysis-
Can you say "RFID Implant"?? This is one step from a global hive mind where everyone is inter-connected. Global enslavement if you pick this option.

Create real-world issue reporting system-
1. Enable people to submit bug reports about problems in the real world.
I stopped sending error reports to microsoft ages ago. This helps the NWO agenda for more jobs, but are our problems really being solved efficiently?

Encourage positive media depictions of engineers and scientists-
Do we really need to merge science with entertainment? I like the idea of a tech-channel, but there are better ideas.

Build better banking tools for everyone-
I wont get started on the banks. The suggestions for this idea are enough to influence your decision. "Create a single world bank or supra-national currency, uniform rules and transparent public accounting" One step closer to single world government.

Work toward socially conscious tax policies-
Taxes, money, blah blah, its all boring. Someone enlighten me on how taxes in one country will affect the world as a whole.

Collect and organize the world's urban data-
Another great idea, yet another step toward controlling everyone on the planet.

Create more efficient landmine removal programs-
This should also work toward getting rid of certain weapon systems. Such as uranium munitions, carpet bombs, ect.

Drive innovation in public transport-
Ehh, transport. Shouldn't we be using jet-packs and hovercrafts already??

Build real-time, user-reported news service-
User reported? There will be lots of people mis-using this service. Lots of jobs will be lost, this will never be implemented.

Make educational content available online for free-
Free education??? This would be my 3rd choice, but my problem with the education system comes back. You'll always learn what you need to go out and make money, nothing more.

Create real-time natural crisis tracking system-
Crisis response?? Uhh, ok.... Joint program with what global partners, and with who in charge?

Help social entrepreneurs drive change-
4th choice, but pretty much useless. If a big business likes your idea, whats stopping them from taking it?

Provide quality education to African students-
*sigh* Africa is messed up for a reason, thanks to us westerners raping their natural resources. Its obvious this goes against any capitalist agenda for raising human development in the 3rd world, its going to have a negative effect on our own economy once we see some growth in Africa.

We are going to need more than a government watchdog program, and genocide monitoring to fix this place.

I voted on, "Make government more transparent". This would be a great idea from local issues all the way up to national issues. A lot of this stuff is public record but it's not easy finding all that stuff. It would be nice to see everything in one place.
