In the beginning, when the internet was just starting to take off, everyone thought that it would be this huge mind-opener and enlightener. But in fact, if anything, the opposite is becoming true. I would say that for many people, the internet has actually become a mind-closer.

What separates the internet from radio, television, and print, is the level of control that users have over what content they view, and the total amount of content available.

Since both sides approach infinite level with the internet, the result is that people can always find plenty of evidence to support whatever ignorant pre-conceived notions they happened to have.

People almost never do a Google search on something they have no opinion on; they do a Google search in order to find justification for whatever belief they already had. The end result is that instead of someone with an incorrect idea, you have someone that's 100% certain of their incorrect idea, and become active advocates for it.

Not knocking any fellow ATSers down but take a gander before you state your so called "facts."

Great post! I completely agree with you!
I think people should stop denying ignorance an instead start paying attention to it.

To believe in denying ignorance is to presume we already know a lot, enough at least so that we cannot afford to be ignorant ourselves. Or else we would eventually have to deny ourselves and that sounds like it can cause a lot of trouble to ones psyche.

Are we here to convince other people of our perspectives pretending that our perspective is the absolute truth or are we here to learn and to listen to what other people have to say?

We should start making more questions and gathering more info instead of being judgmental and imposing our perspectives on other people's perspective.

Sometimes what we call ignorance is just one more thing to learn from.
We should accept it as a gift, because if there was no ignorance there would be no learning.

All one can ask for is choices, options, freedoms, etc ... how each of us chooses to make use of these things is our individual responsibility.

The internet is a tool, not a teacher or mentor. A tool that can be used in the pursuit of honest inquiry as much as self validating ignorance.

Depends on the person ...

Denying ignorance has nothing to do with killing an open and logical mind. An open and logical mind will never be denied. Denying ignorance is something far more powerful than that. Denying ignorance is not excepting what the media wants us to believe or our government. Denying ignorance is having an open and logical mind so that you don't go down the same road that most others travel. I believe that ATS members and staff Deny ignorance with a responsibility to keep a discussion open and people thinking for themselves. I for one will always invite an opinion. I think there's some people out there that deny ignorance for the wrong reasons and therefor have stopped them selves from being a free thinker and has clouded their own minds. As a member of ATS I'm proud to say that Denying ignorance is the best thing that has ever happened on the INTERNET. Without it here on ATS we would be just another forum that goes unchecked and the truth will never be found that way.

The 2nd one is a grays anatomy character. The rest I have no idea.
I don't watch greys, but I have family, lol.

www.google.com...

I remember somewhere like the most searched for a while was, "Chris brown, Porn, and Rihanna, and Old Fat Hot ladies".

Not really sure why the fourth one was so popular, and kind of really never want to find out, but I saw idiocracy coming true!

I do find myself, using google, to justify myself, but sometimes, I stop myself, and look in the other perspective, just to try to keep it fair and balanced.

To deny ignorance is simply to deny its hold over one's psyche and to take matters into one's own hands in order to combat it. It is to deny another's will over one's own will, to do what thou wilt. It is to raise one's level of vibration above ignorance.

(You just forgot what I said)
