I have no clue where to post this so I thought this is the right place.

My best friend found out last night that the husband of her home daycare provider has the swine flu!
He has been sick since Thursday but was only seen by the doc yesterday.

Her son is 16 months old and so far is showing no signs of illness. She asked me if I knew things she could do to boost his immune system against this. I did a few searches and of course, cut down sugar, increase Vit. C, and liquids was all that I found that seems safe for a child of that age.

I did however see things about Vit. E, turmeric, colloidal silver but have no clue if this would be safe for such a young child. I really would like to give her some information but my google search for boosting immunities for Toddlers against swine flu didn't turn up much.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I know we have several knowledgeable people in our forum including nurses. Please direct me.

thanks so much,
red

My children and family have been taking vitamin D3 capsules, 5,000 perday as well as 2,000 Vitamin C and drinking Elderberry concentrate with good results so far.

There are other suggestions around the board as well, best of luck to you and your friends family.

As far as supplements, I would ask the child's doctor. The immune systems in healthy toddlers is pretty tough, for the lack of a better word. I had my kiddo to the doctor the other day for allergies, and I asked him pretty much the same question. He told me to wash her hands alot, make sure she gets plenty of rest, and eats plenty of the fruits and veggies. Also make sure she is drinking juices, milk, and water, instead of the alternative She recently turned 4 so I have started giving her chewable Flintstones vitamins that were approved by her doc. He also recommended a nap during the day. It will help to. Maybe this will help you, just my two cents.

Yay, Antar is right.

Vitamin D

I would also stay away from sugar/refined carbs.
