An Airline Pilot's view of 9-11

although I was not in command of an aircraft on 9-11-01, as many know, I lost friends that day. Every day after that, I stood in that cockpit door greeting passengers, I scrutinized every passenger....Was I profiling? maybe, but it was my aircraft, my passengers...NEVER was it going to happen on my aircraft....I went thru extremely difficult training to carry a weapon on my flights (even though I had been a law enforcement officer) to protect my passengers. I would walk the aisle of every flight, using the Israeli methods to discern intent, I took alot of heat from the Company for refusing to depart with some passengers. I only hope I prevented another disaster....We found box cutters, small arms ammunition, even a small amount of C4 on our flights, hmmm, thanks TSA.....

You know what? I don't care about political correctness, I care about my country. If you want to be judged by sharia law (hear this el presidente?), go live where you WILL!!!!!!!

I WILL NOT DISHONOR THOSE WHO DIED ON 9-11-01 BY CALLING IT A NATIONAL SERVICE DAY!!!! And I will not support a President that does!!!!!

Please, write your Congress Reps, often, make sure you look very carefully at the 2010 candidates.....

Never stop protesting, it IS AMERICAN!!!!!!!

Wow. Can't speak for anyone else but I for one am completely lost on what you are getting at. National Service Day? Sharia law? What's that have to do with 9/11? Also, do you live in Mexico? El Presidente?

Ok....Our president had attempted to make the 9-11 observance a National Service Day.....he somewhat recanted after the public reaction.....In his speech today at the Pentagon, most of his speech was about how we should be devoting ourselves to service, with little respect for the memories of 9-11-01...

Certain Supreme Court Justices, as well as certain czars, have publicly expressed opinions that those of the Muslim faith in the US might need to be judged by sharia(Muslim) law.........

I have the ultimate respect for the Office of the President....I have little for the current occupant or his policies. El Presidente is a reference because I cannot bring myself to call him the President.

I hate to say this, but if we don't, the republic is in trouble....

I as well got it the first time habu71. We would all be much safer fliers if everyone who took to the skies was as vigilant as yourself!!! Keep up the good work!

thanks.....vigilance, but vigilance with intelligence is what will make the difference.....never be afraid to voice a concern.....One of my last flights, a passenger complained to a flight attendant that 2 passengers were discussing explosives......she called the cockpit, we were on the taxiway, stopped to discuss it......Since we could not and would not open the cockpit door, we chose the safe option, we had the authorities called to the gate and returned to the gate.....they escorted the 2 off the aircraft.......the passengers applauded us, even though it was 2300.......turns out they were chemical company execs, but one never knows....

I agree. Conspiracy or no. It is a complete dishonor to the people that died on that day, and those who were seriously injured when trying to save who they could by using it as a political tool for Obama's call to rakes.
