I was enjoying an HD of the classic western The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and found that an interesting object appears to fly across the screen, just after the moment Lee Van Cleefe's character takes a bullet.

The object vanished in the next frame, which is unusual as this footage was done on 'old fashioned' chemical film with a mechanical shutter. It then reappears right over Eli Wallach's character.

I think whatever this is, it must be moving very fast.

Have patience, it's a big image of full-res frames from the HD movie, of around 800KB. T

[edit] I have removed the first link to the images as it does not show properly from within the ATS website, try the link below and download it to your own pc.

Great movie. Questionable thread.

B+ for effort.

I'm going with bird or film frame degradation of some kind.

There's plenty pops and fizz of the normal film emulsion errors we see in all the old cinematic movies. But this object, it's defo' the same object between the 3 frames. I thought it would be a bug, although it's lit unusually and must be moving devilishly fast, these are 1/24th a second frames, and there is not trace at all in the middle frame.

Whatever, nothing spectacular, but a nice film in HD all the same... thanks for the B+

"One bast** goes in, and another comes out"

I can see this thread going that way...
