The one thing that really annoys me is when people post a video and say what do you think? Well not everyone has sound, or is able to view video. It would be really nice
if people would make a little summary about the video. I think this would also help to get people to watch them. I really dont like when I go to a thread and its just a video asking what people think. Now how do I know the poster read it when they didnt even put their opinion down on it. I miss a lot of videos due to lack of sound but if people would summarize these videos many others could participate. If you watched it then you wouldnt mind summarizing it! I mean dont you have to put a summary of an article in BN so why dont people have to do the same in other boards when posting videos? I really think this would help a lot of members on here. I have missed so many videos on here lately and when I ask the OP to summarize a little most just ignore me. If you watched it then what is the big deal?!

I didnt know where to put this so move if necessary...please dont move to issues thread because that thread NEVER seems to get any answers and its too long to go through....

My friend perhaps you should copy and paste this paragraph on every post that does it. Eventually, maybe, someone will hear you.

Amen brother!

If I may be so bold as to quote the Terms and Conditions:

1j.) Video links/embeds: You will not embed or post a link to a video without a reasonable description of its content and why it interests you, is germane to the topics discussed on ATS or the topic of an existing thread should you post it in a reply to an existing thread.

While we don't enforce this policy as much as we do, say profanity or civility, we do enforce it.

It's simply a matter of members having some basic etiquette. Everyone knows not to post in all caps. Yet, every day staff need to edit posts to remove all caps titles. The same story with censor circumvention. And external source tags.

Perhaps people are simply lazy or stubborn or not familiar with the T&Cs?

The best solution is - when you spot a video that has been posted that does not conform with the Terms and Conditions (as above), use the alert function to notify staff, and we will take it from there.

Oh thanks! I thought there had to be something in T&C! I know this may sound like a rant but it is frustrating when I want to view a video and comment and cant. I personally think many who post videos and ask for suggestions dont even watch it, they just want other peoples opinion first and then they go from there. I have seen this on many threads actually! Thanks again : )

Haa yeah that would probably work or get my post deleted for off topic stuff..lol I have asked many posters to summarize and the vast majority dont! I have had a few do it and I appreciate it and so do others who cant view them. There are 3 videos I really want to watch right now and cant : (

I agree that explaining the video is something that should be done more often. I have sound, but I often feel no desire to watch a video when someone posts it, I see that it's 90 minutes long, and all they say is, "watch this video!"

I generally try to move all the videos that are prefaced by "look at this cool video" or "here... discuss" type of messages to the media uploads section.

Folks don't understand that those cruising by on their lunch hour really can't stop to watch a 45 minute video. A simple 2 paragraph discussion lets everyone become involved. A 2-liner is basically... ah... fodder for the video section if I catch it!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!

There are MANY who dispise the act of posting a link or video with no commentary or summation. It is also against TAC, as Gemwolf pointed out. I just alert the mods, other than that there is nothing we can do. If I had to suggest something I would say if it is worth it just provide the necessary information yourself, you will be helping everyone else out as well as make an example out of yourself

Ultimately it is up to the mods and as we all guess they are probably very busy. I guess it is just something that is an annoyance on such a large site, but I will sacrifice the minor agitation for access to this great site.
