traveling in space

I know how the planets revolve around the sun. Like if you go straight from earth you get to each planet. What if you go up or down is space where do you end up at?

hmmmmm. good question. im guessing it would be somewhere far away. the Oort cloud maybe. but that would be FARRR away.

another thing too. if we are worried about going thru the asteroid belt why dont we just go up and over it instead of thru it.

well, nothing really ever goes up because there's just nothing there. as for reaching the oort cloud, you could travel in ANY direction and reach it eventually.

also, nothing really heads straight from planet to planet, usually satellites will follow an arched path due to being literally slingshotted out of the earth's, moon's, or other celestial body's gravity.

as for the astroid belt? well, we've gone through it plenty of times. think of all the probes that have visited the jovian worlds. the asteroid belt is nothing like what you see in movies.

Well, the planets were formed in a accretion disk and the oort cloud comes from that disk as well. If you run into the oort cloud, there would be a lot less bodies than if you ran into the oort cloud in the plane of the accretion disk.

The asteroid belt is not that dangerous. You can see the asteroids coming from far away and there's a lot of space to move. I think going up would take more time and trouble than it's worth.
