Embayment is Faulty

This is even closer to the SE than the New Madrid-

It's being called a static zone. Hopefully it's diffusing the energy buildup from the New Madrid. Maybe that's why we're having odd tremors in the Carolinas.

Instead, they "migrate" within the larger Mississippi Embayment, a former inland sea filled with sediment deposited by the river. The embayment was formed when the continent nearly broke apart eons ago, creating a trough that was flooded by the Gulf of Mexico.

I could be wrong but I don't think that the Embayment includes the Carolinas.

I don't think it does either, but we really haven't had many tremors recently. Maybe 4-8 weeks ago or so. Plus Memphis is hours away on the western side of TN, granted that's not so far away in the grand scheme of things and there are fault lines going thru western NC as well.

I do watch the earthquake maps though...interesting.
