Congress is now starting on the firearms confiscation bill. If it passes, gun owners will become criminals if you don't fully comply.

Very Important for you to be aware of a new bill HR 45 introduced into the House. This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009.

Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because the government is trying to fly it under the radar.

To find out about this - go to any government website and type in HR 45 or Google HR 45 Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sales Act of 2009. You will get all the information.

Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless:

-It is registered -You are fingerprinted -You supply a current Driver's License -You supply your Social Security # -You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing -Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 - Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail. -There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. -They would have the right to come in and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

If you think this is a joke - go to the website and take your pick of any options to read this. It is long and lengthy. But, more and more people are becoming aware of this. Pass the word along. Any hunters in your family pass this along.

This is just a "termite" approach to complete confiscation of guns and disarming of our society to the point we have no defense - chip away a little here and there until the goal is accomplished before anyone realizes it.

This is one to act on whether you own a gun or not.

If you take my gun, only the criminal will have one to use against me. HR 45 only makes me/us less safe.

Actually, you're wrong about this being "Unkown" as HR 45 has been reported many times on ATS and has been featured by the NRA's news website with many different articles. (Which is how we know about it.)

I should also note, it has been sitting in subcommittee since February. Sure it could pass.. However I do believe democrats are afraid to vote on gun legislation. As they should be.

What you can do is.. Contact your congressman. Tell him if he/she votes on this bill if it ever gets to them.. That you will do everything in your power to make sure he is out his seat in the next election, and then have your friends or any other people that are for 2nd Amendment contact them and have them say the same.

A congressman won't risk their political career.

well the ones i havei have had for many years and are already registered and i won't pay tax again on them-i already did once and that would be double taxation(which is illegal but they do get away with it with cars)
they want them then i will just say i sold them or they can find out the hard way i still have them- their choice
and btw for those of you who don't know about guns- a clip is totally different than a magazine- hopefully that is how the bill is worded because it will give you a legal recourse

That would be pretty funny if it got all the way to passing.. with the word clip instead of magazine.

It would pretty much remove all effect of this bill legally. Though I doubt a lot of SKS owners would be happy.

Considering this Bill was introduced on 1/6/2009, whereupon it was immediately referred to the House Committee of the Judiciary, and then handed off on 2/9/2009 to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security and tabled ever since, it is not very likely to see the light of the House floor again.

(Although Snopes.com has this as a myth under SB 2099)

The last time there was similar proposed legislation before Congress that was given far more genuine attention by members of Congress, many States enacted Gun Laws that protected and shielded their citizens from these Federal Laws. The "Shall Issue" Conceal and Carry Permits that most States have were pre-emptive measures in anticipation of such Federal Registration laws. Although a Federal Law would override State Laws, the States have the right to challenge Congress and demand a reprieve under the argument of State Sovereignty as they have pre-existing laws and measures that predate the Federal Law, and if denied, challenge the Federal Law in Court.
