OK tommorow i will be posting a picture i still have by a miracle i suppose, i took it over a year ago.

My girlfriend screamed while she was outside of our apartment on the beach one night and i ran out like a mad man thinking someone grabbed her or she saw something shocking, she pointed at the moon, i saw nothing wrong with the moon, but it was mostly covered by a very straight object¿? It was a straight line across the moon, almost covering the whole thing, i ran and got the camera and managed to snap a shot before the moon was completely uncovered.

Gotta upload the pic tommorow, cant find camera and its late night and would have to make a lot of noise to connect the printer that reads the memory stick.

I just googled lunar eclipse pictures and have not found a single one like mine, a straight line cutting the moon in half, hopefully someone on here can analyze the pic with software after i upload it.

that's pretty cool. This past saturday morning i awoke to see a full moon being illuminated by the sun while it is currently in a new moon phase.

i didnt explain it too well but it was like a lunar eclipse except the edge of the darkness was a perfectly straight line the whole time and it lasted what had to be under a minute. My girlfriend saw it cover the moon with her own eyes i believe and thats why she screamed, i will have her version of the story along with the pic for analysis tommorow.

going to sleep, tommorow around noon eastern time i will upload it

can someone use some kind of infrared effect on this photo to see what is blocking the moon? i doubt it is an eclipse

it took place last summer before the month of august and there were no lunar eclipses then

It's simply a half moon:

Umm, half Moons don't last under a minute. Why don't we let the OP explain the details before we rush in with our superior intellectual ignorance debunking expertise.

Okay I'll admit I didn't read the OP word for word and I missed the part about the moon fully uncovering moments after the photograph was taken.

However, the OP asked whats blocking the moon in the photograph.

From the picture supplied, unfortunately, we cannot tell what is blocking the moon.

It's simply a picture of a half moon.

A lunar eclipse could block the moon but this happens over several hours not a minute.

I'm by no means a photgraphic expert but I zoomed in on the moon from the photograph and found this:

Notice the blue spots around the moon?

I know next to nothing about imaging so someone will have to help me out.

What are those blue spots? Are they part of the colouring of the photograph? Or something to do with the quality of camera?

Ive seen this sort of stuff quite a lot. I think its probly to do with how close the moon is too the sun in the night sky. The whole lunar sycle a few months ago was like this
