Perhaps it's time to consider that option once again.

I'm calling for a national strike, one designed to close the country down for a day. The intent? Real campaign-finance reform and strong restrictions on lobbying. Because nothing will change until we take corporate money out of politics. Nothing will improve until our politicians are once again answerable to their constituents, not the rich and powerful.

Let's set a date. No one goes to work. No one buys anything. And if that isn't effective -- if the politicians ignore us -- we do it again. And again. And again.

The real war is not between the left and the right. It is between the average American and the ruling class. If we come together on this single issue, everything else will resolve itself. It's time we took back our government from those who would make us their slaves.

Larry Flynt: Common Sense 2009

I quite enjoyed the entire article and would participate in the event if I had a job... and it's not like I spend money anyway. All my money goes into utilities and food these days.

Maybe people are listening this time and it will happen.

Read the article.

No doubt this will cause problems for peoples lives if it happens. And it damn well should. Some of us may be too complacent and prefer to ignore the status of our country, and shutting things down for a few days will definitely make people pay more attention. It won't work overnight. It has to be done again, and again, and again and again for longer periods each time. Empty recognitions will not suffice. We must CRIPPLE the economy to such a degree that ignoring the demands of the people will be detrimental to national security and the economy, not only of our own country, but of the world. IT personnel are especially important in a plan such as this.

The most impact we can have is by disrupting the flow of information in the digital realm so that this becomes not only the problem of our OWN country, but of the world. I beg those of you in other countries to follow suite. The world will not be changed by our governments, because such a thing no longer exists. We live at the mercy of socialism, and this is nothing new. It has been so since the early portion of the 20th century and will continue so long as governments as we define them presently are allowed to exist. The role of nations and states and systems of government must be dissolved. This is the goal of those in power, and those who influence those in 'power.' It should be our goal as well, but the means to the end should be decided by the people, not by the people that govern them.

Good idea...

I'm keen, the lobbying needs to be stopped before any real change can be made!

I agree 100% with this article. We The People are the true power. The Elite can only manipulate a facade of power. They rely on manipulation through deception.

What this man in the article is advocating is called
*************Civil Disobedience*************** I'm a big fan of it. The way the Elite keep us playing their game is through constantly throwing crud in Our faces until We *****submit*****

Their plan doesn't work when We say No. When We as a People remember that We are somebodies, and that the true power lies within us, not them, We win.

We can practice this on smaller scales in Our daily lives. A grand protest would be excellent, but other things can be done.

Yes, I'm advocating not paying taxes, We are currently taxed without representation.

Yes, I'm for resisting every bull turd law they've crammed down Our throats for the last 100 years.

It all needs to start on the grassroots microcosmic level, and the macrocosm will grow from there

I love the idea of a national strike for many reasons. How about Sept.11th. Who's in? It's a friday. I say we see how it goes and if they don't get the picture we take the weekend off and start up again monday.

Glad everyone agrees with the idea. Show the Elite who's really boss!

I actually had the same idea awhile back. The working class has all the power, without us, the government has nothing. I am sick and tired of us workers being kicked around, paying the way for those who choose not to be a productive member of society. We should be in control, we outnumber them all. We could get significant changes made this way.
I'm in !!!!!!!!!

Same guy. I would venture to say that they published this blog...rather than to say "...of the Huffington Post"

Interesting message, just the same.
