I notice kids are getting fed garbage to their brain.

on nickolodeon tv show Icarly check this out: warning contains sexual wording/meaning

here is the episode showing them using the word hobknocker:
www.youtube.com...

I never knew what the word mean until I done some googling and found this:

www.urbandictionary.com...

This is sexual. I wounder how nick a kids tv network got passed the fcc with this one?

I am noticing their is more and more sexual material for all ages on TV and other marketing areas.

I just want to know if everyone is aware of this?

south Park made fun of disney with the jo-bros www.youtube.com...

I just wanted to know what you guys here on ats think about this. I already seen a thread about violent video games but yet no forum about what tv shows our kids watch.

I notice alot of people are against violent games but yet I hear no comments about parents not liking how disney and other kids tv networks are crafting their shows and have hidden messages.

I ol:

It's up to parents to actually be parents.

Part of that duty is to limit exposure to the garbage that is put forth as entertainment.

It's not that hard. Just limit their TV.

ya, but parents put alot of trust with kids networks because they trust the fcc to regulate them.

I personally think that the network could or should be getting fined for airing that. So far they keep airing that without beeping it out or anything.

I just was kinda shocked hearing this on tv and finding out what it means and yet noticing the fcc is not doing their job.

I personally never expected a kids network to put sexual stuff in their shows for kids of all ages to watch.

Careful what you wish for now...

You'll incite the FCC to put pay-to-play converters in every house...

For a Corporate Fee of course... :shk:

I'd say buy a new TV with a V-Chip Parental Code...

...or keep an eye on the youngin's...

C`mon.

Haven`t you ever heard of a wedgie

Different technique - same result

Don`t be such a prude.

You`d be shocked what kids talk about these days.

While I agree with you, as a parent of a 4 year old I find it is much more difficult than you can ever imagine.

We don't eat fast foods yet she always has to talk about Dunkin donuts and Wendys every time we drive by one.

She has never seen High School Musical, yet I caught her singing a line from that one song.

She even knows most of the words to the Human League's "Don't you want me" even though she has never heard the song. We figured out this was due to Swifter commercial.

So even thought you think you are doing what is right the outside world creeps in.

So in short don't be surprised when we hear language like this as common place. I can remember being shocked at the word Sucks now it is common language, and I'm not that old.

But it's still hard, marketing isn't limited to tv- to bring up kids with the values of yesteryear is damned near impossible in the year 2009!

Kids are targeted big time- there is a huge market for the kids now- gone are the days of 'being seen and not heard' kids are here! and in your face! coz thats how the world is that is presented to them! in the form of advertising advertising advertising- I feel sorry for the y and z gens, must be hard being so inundated with techonology and the ever expanding world- everything is so fast now..and good value systems etc are long gone- the latest KFC ads spring to mind- theyre basically saying 'it's cool to lie heck we even expect you to!'- madness

Its hard being a Mum competing against all the bs advertising and a world moving so fast she cant hear herself think, it's hard trying to instill good value systems onto your child when they are so heavily influenced by outside forces that are out of her control...it sucks and isnt as easy as turning off the telly.....I wish it was!!

-just saw your post Slipkid...LOL....yay for other people seeing how crazy it is!

Kids grow up too fast!! sex in kids tv? you bet- tweens...what a racket...poor kids..they just dont get to be kids anymore...I'm doing my best to shelter kiddo from the harsh realities of life but geez it's bloody hard work!

I'm tired of the whole dumb argument "Yeah but it's the parents fault."

NO...it's the corrupted networks ran by pedophiles and sex slave ring owners and masters who are in control of the media.

They need to be locked up and have the keys thrown away.

It's not the parents fault.

lol @ the South Park clip OP- and we dont do the Disney channel all that High School musical tweeny stuff drives me crazy- thank god I've only got boy kiddo! who watches mostly the ABC..still Hannah Montana has snuk onto the ABC and a couple of others- I'd rather he watch more Aussie stuff or British....they tend to keep it more real...

I work very hard to limit and filter media for my children. I work actively at it.

And it still gets in.

BTW, before my oldest started reading I found that you can have satellite companies remove the channels you block from your guide.

They don't just do it. The customer service people told me they couldn't. But anytime I have a new receiver, I call them and tell them I don't need my 7 year old asking me what "MILF" or "She Sucks Hard" is.

They tell me I can block them, but they can't come off the guide.

I tell them I think that's horse [snip], and that I know that they can't do anything for me but that I want them to put my complaint on my file and that I think that it is crap and to raise it to their managers level. They resist, and tell me that it is impossible and I tell them to do it anyways.

By the next day the channels I block disappear from my guide.

Just saying.

You can extert more control than you think - but they actively fight you to at least make sure that your children KNOW that it is out there. They do everything they can to get around decency.

ya, just saying that if your a parent you would expect disney and nick to be a kids station that when they say that are a kids station that means they keep it clean.

I am not young nor have kids. I am just noticing alot of sexual slurs are being slowly creeper into cartoons and other kid shows. When I was a kid the cartoons and kid shows kept it clean. No sexual references etc. Today it's different. They make sexual remarks that are indirect. Yet these are what is fed to kids. To me I personally ethically think it's wrong.

When I was 14 or so (I'm now 30), I watched a show called Bots Master . It had a part in it that, back then I didn't get, now that I'm older I get it and I'm amazed! I personally think it was funny that I didn't get it. In this case it was concealed but completely within context. I was 14 and did not get it even though I know what was said.

www.youtube.com... starts at about 5mins and ends at about 5:45

It was probably the show that got me into techno music lol

Hell, alot of us remember The Goonies movie, I watched that as a kid and now that I'm older I realize I had no clue what was going on alot of the time.

Go watch The Goonies again and think about how much damage it did lol.

If you really have a problem with it, get a bunch of old cartoons you watched as a kid and burn them to RW disks.

Don't over shelter your children. The world is a rough place and it’s no place for wussies.

Teach them the difference between right and wrong. And how to be good to others.

They also need to have good decision skills and not follow like sheep. Teach them to lead.

My son is only 5 years old and he knows every cuss word there is. He also knows not to use them because he is a child. When he gets older he can use them as he likes it will be one of his decisions.

He also knows gun safety and has effectively dispatched paper targets at 25 yards with his rugar 22 rifle.

He can cook for himself and clean up after himself.
We are teaching him to be a person and he needs to know about life.
Children are smarter than you think give them a little credit.
