UK Team Attempts Steam Car Record !!

A team of British engineers is to begin four days of attempts to break the longest-standing land speed record.

They hope their steam car, Inspiration, will achieve speeds of 170mph (274km/h) at Edwards air base, in California's Mojave Desert.

Test run on Saturday the UK team claims to have beaten the previous record of 127 mph, first set in 1906. Turning almost nine gallons of water into super heated steam every minute, that would mean the car uses almost 540 gallons of water per hour! Doesn't sound like this will be coming to your new car dealer very soon in the future. It looks really neat though! I guess this is a prestige thing for rich guys with nothing better to do.

I'm sure that's just the floor model, the ones in the showroom will feature the "Funnel Top Roof."
