I am a "goldbug" in that I invest in, trade, and collect bars of pure gold. Sometimes I find myself staring at the surfaces of golden objects raptly and thinking of all the greed, bloodshed, and the great dramas of history that have played out in connection with this metal. Queens and matrons have lusted with a power more adamant than sexual desire to adorn themselves in qolden splendor, while armies of males have clashed over its posession. It has been sanctificed by the halls of religion, and stored in caverns where, Gollum-like, misers have spent hours stroking its surface. Does its shiny surface mesmurize the human mind, hypnotizing us somehow?

Perhaps the allure of gold's sheen and deep radience can be considered to inspire a form of "secular scrying," but it is certainly not without its dark, bloodstained side...the combination of the sacred and the secular, the molding of Buddhist statues or Catholic altars from pure gold is given a counterpoint with the Machiavellian shattering of economies in its pursuit...Gold is the ultimate mixture of soaring holiness and gore-smeared human ambition of the lowest sort...this mix itself, the history and, yes, its romance and pagentry down through the ages makes it powerfully attractive to me and many others as an object of desire in and of itself. It is a curious phenomoenon. I'd be a bit afraid to try serious scrying with gold...who knows what darkness might lurk in that shiniest of surfaces?

Yes i think that the more valluble and shiny the surface espiciely if it has a long history of causing greed and bloodlust can atract more darker and evil spirts,demons,ghosts,ect.

A very interesting topic. It seems as if there may be some internal (psychological/spiritual/whatever you wanna call it) phenomenon that occurs with reflective objects. In fact I myself have spent a great deal of time caught in a gaze between myself and myself in a mirror (don't know why) don't know how much time I spent just staring into my eyes through a mirror (I have read of other people doing the same thing for long periods of time). I do not become trapped or anything, I can pull myself away when I want to. There's not really a way that I can describe what I feel or what happens to me in that time, it's all very strange (i guess that's why people don't like to think about it much, because of fear of the unknown). I mean really anyone I'm sure could have this strange experience, but it's really all inside your head (as is all of existence), and most people just aren't ready to see what is or isn't there. (hope this made sense.) BTW glad u had the guts to create this thread even though there are people who will bash it all over the place, I for one appreciate it.

Oh wouldn't it be creepy if, in the mirror, there were secretly hiddeous creatures everywhere around you, but they were away from mirror view? Yuck, great now I have made myself unable to sleep.

Anywhoooo... I think that mirrors hold a specific dimension, and I would call it 'mirror.' It is all based on what's here in real life. But perhaps since it is less physical compared to this dimension, ghosts sometimes use mirrors to 'scare' people or communicate with them, because it would be easier to modify.

OH MY GOD I inspire myself sometimes~

When I was a kid I was afraid of mirrors. I could never shake the feeling that I was the reflection and if the "mirror person" went away I wouldn't exist anymore. Still gives me pause sometimes.

Through the looking glass by Carroll was one of my favorite books as a child. Perhaps we should all re-read it and see what was hidden in its depths after all. Carroll was an Oxford professor, so no doubt he's hidden all sorts of stuff in there kids wouldn't pick up on. You know, he was an excellent chess player, and the book has an actual chess game encoded in it that can (and has) been played. Carroll himself provided a move-chart in some of the older books.

Anything reflective is a window to the past.
It takes time, no matter how small, for the light to hit your face, bounce off the mirror and then into your eye.........
soo...no matter what, you will never see yourself, you always see a past self.
