In my minds eye I see
a world of plenty
a world of peace
A place where love abounds
there is no hate
there is no greed
no suffering is to be found
In my minds eye
these are the things I find
but alas the sad thing is
my minds eye is totally blind

You know what the best poetry is. Honestly the poetry that sticks more than the rest. It's the ones that we remember. The short sweet ones. And I honestly think this one and others like this are the ones that really inspire us. They don't go off onto different things and focus on one idea. I will remember this for sure. S&F.

Some of the best poetry I enjoy . . . says things to me.

In this case, I feel a "longing", a wish for something to be a certain way.

It's there, in the mind, but unseen . . .maybe because it's so simple yet so
unobtainable, . . . a world of peace . . and no suffering. And the practical
side of our minds say, "Great ideas, but . . . not very realistic". And the
mind's eye stays closed.

But that is also the time when your heart takes over . . and puts your
sincerest hopes into a poem . . like this.
