It is the same as any political movement. We have been wronged, we want justice.

Special interest groups are here to destroy us all.

How could something as simple as race benefit or destroy somebody?
It is so stupid and I am tired of it.
Our leaders are incompetent twits.

You know, I am bothered by your denigrating people calling people 'communists'. What if they really are? What this Kenyan and his Communist/Democratic party are doing is not democratic, it is not free enterprise, it is only communism/socialism. By definition. Taking money from the best producers and giving it to the least productive. And it is not their fault if they are lazy, are working under the table, are illegal immigrants like Baraq, are druggies, or simply incompetent. Yeah, right. I suspect that it it very American to think that people have the right to enjoy the fruits of their labors, not have it stolen, and given to druggies so they can buy more coke. What is so bad about calling a rose, a rose? A rose by any other name, is still a rose...

The bad thing about any group using symbols like these then hiding like cowards is that the people can only make their own conclusions about them. This symbol could mean many differnt things, but of course, TPTB will use it do deliver a decisive blow to the proper integration of the people of the US. All of the people of the US united, how powerful could that be...

What does Nationality have to do with Religion? (the two are separate)

Apples and Oranges.

And I'm not guessing.

People would have to be pretty sick in the head to think that such actions are justified just because you disagree with Obama.

It's pretty sad to see a lack of logic on here.

Well, I think we know what it means in this instance... It sure doesn't mean "permanence" like it does in Tibet.

I was just watching Congressman Scott who had the swastika painted on his sign.

He received a letter that has the picture of Obama at the top.

Here's what he said :

There are other things we have received in the mail such as this which depicts Obama as a clown with the swastika on his forehead and says death to marxists, foreign and domestic, meaning some of the concerns that Birthers have. Then it says, "To 'n-word' David Scott, you were , you shall forever be a 'n-word', an ethiopian can not make himself white."

I mean this is just outrageous, has no place in this debate. We need to bring to the American people and explain what the public option means without the tension...

UPDATE: I don't know why ATS filtered that word, but Congressman Scott did not filter it. He felt the letter should be read in it's entirety.

I'm not saying it is a good thing or that it is justified.
What I'm saying is that the Government is getting a glimpse the backlash they have created by being negligent in their duty.

It is sad that others can't see this.
It is even worse that people would behave like good little drones and go ahead and call whomever did it a racist. Just like your masters want you to.

It is completely devoid of logic.

The sad thing was that congressman scott was actually not being negligent. Many of his constituents were very concerned about a major highway planned to be put through their neighborhoods.

He was there to discuss this as much as possible as the local folks had set up this meeting.

Yet it was hijacked by those who would rather not have any civil discourse and would also rather not the local constituents who set up the meeting have their day.

It is sad that others can't see this.

Indeed. It really is.

Did you see the letter he received? Maybe not.. I posted it right above this post. Letters saying that "he is , was , and will always be a 'n-word'. Ethiopians can't make themselves white"

EDIT:ATS filtered the word

Now we don't know who really used the swastika. But when you use that symbol today, it is racist. You cannot use the Swastika, the icon of Hitlers oppression over Jews, Gypsies, etc and claim that it's not racist. For God Sakes Hitler wanted to create a MASTER RACE!

Just like your masters want you to.
It is completely devoid of logic.

The fact that people are using swastikas and references to hitler really IS devoid of logic. I agree whole heartedly.

All I need to say here is that all you need to brush up on your history, BIG-TIME. I've spent the better part of my life researching and studying Nazism and Nazi Germany, qhich, frankly, is absolutely fascinating. Just like communism, Nazism is grossly misunderstood and people use those words as slurs rather than attempting to understand what was really going on.

All this talk about "Nazi-esque" policies is absolutely meaningless. Nazism is not the nexus of all political ideology and thought. Based on that logic, I could easily say ATS has "Nazi-esque" policies because of the way they control what we can say here on these message boards. But Nazism cannot be taken in small parts, it must be taken in its totality. Therefore, it'd be absurd for anyone to say that ATS exhibits Nazi-like characteristics.

But most importantly, what you would come to discover is that Nazism was not the outcome of supposedly "liberal" policies, as ATS believes it to be. It was when they chose to reject those "liberal" policies that Nazism prevailed. I am not promoting an ideology or a certain kind of action. But it is a thought.

That's something you learn when you study history, not conspiracy.

I think that equating what was done and the letter the Congressman received and applying it to the main part of either side of this debate is doing a disservice to all of us. I think (hopefully) that most of us here don't think the views expressed in the letter or in the painting of the swastika are those of the majority or even a small minority of either side.

Obviously, those who did this just want to disrupt and stop us from the task at hand, which is debating the future of our healthcare system. I take offense that if I disagree with my Administration that I am somehow equated with being a racist or hate monger or nazi just as much as those who support our Administration take offense at the same charges.

I'm starting to feel like a Muslim in America.....since I'm a Muslim therefore I must be a terrorist or at least a terrorist sympathizer. BTW, for the record, I'm not a Muslim. Painting all that are different than you with the same broad brush because of a very small minority that are jerks doesn't do anything to further dialogue and debate.

I'm stepping off my soapbox now..........

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A swastika was found Tuesday painted on a sign outside Rep. David Scott's district office, an act the Georgia Democrat said reflects an increasingly hateful and racist debate over health care and should serve as a reminder for people to tone down their rhetoric.
....
Scott, who is black, said he also has received mail in recent days that used N-word references to him, and that characterized President Barack Obama as a Marxist.

I'm just going to say, there might be something to do with race behind the e-mails and what not, but then again the n-word is a whole other issue in and of it self, but as I can tell people automatically associate the swastika with neo-Nazis and not the politics behind were this particular version of the swastika came from.

ProtoplasmicTraveler stated quit eloquently the politics behind fascist Germany, I would go back and read his/her post.

The fact is when you shout down your constituents and say things like they are astroturfers and bussed in, and why didn't you set up a meeting with me at my office pretty much shutting down his questions, then you vote yes on bills that your constituents don't want. Don't be surprised if you get likened to a fascist.

Hitler just happened to do something a little more over the top and tried to create a "master race" and so fascism is likened to him. Don't blame me, blame the schools for not teaching proper history about Mussolini, or Stalin, or Mao, etc.

Pulling the race card is nothing but a distraction tactic to draw your attention to the real issue at hand, 90% of the people in Washington are acting like fascist.

Actually I think the disservice was done by the town hall protesters, and (not equating them) the people who are defacing signs with swastikas and sending racist death threats to congressmen.

But I see your point. I'd rather talk about the merits of what's going on as opposed to the nutjobs as well....

I think (hopefully) that most of us here don't think the views expressed in the letter or in the painting of the swastika are those of the majority or even a small minority of either side.

This is the problem with image. Votes can be counted, but one image screws up everything for all sides involved. I can tell what the country wants by votes. I can't tell what anyone wants with folks screaming like babies and then images like this arise.

It makes the entire group of town hall protesters look completely foolish. Guess what... don't want to look foolish by one image... don't set up the spike!

Eventually people will learn that yelling and screaming and spreading lies is the biggest disservice they can do to their own cause.

Obviously, those who did this just want to disrupt and stop us from the task at hand, which is debating the future of our healthcare system.

I agree... who ever did this... and the Town Hall Protesters are all disrupting this process. Not to mention Newt and Sarah.

I take offense that if I disagree with my Administration that I am somehow equated with being a racist or hate monger or nazi just as much as those who support our Administration take offense at the same charges.

I think the only people who disagree with the administration who I would see in that negative light, are those who are supporting the town hall protesters and birthers.

Stand apart from them, and you have my total respect despite what your opinions might be.

I'm starting to feel like a Muslim in America.....since I'm a Muslim therefore I must be a terrorist or at least a terrorist sympathizer. BTW, for the record, I'm not a Muslim. Killing 6 million people in concentration camps because of their race is "a little more over the top"?

I think you are missing the depth of what Hitler and the Germans did.

Oh and btw... Being bused in was not an allegation, it was fact

So it's ok when Sarah Palin tells a bald face lie, but when someone says that the protesters were bused in, when they were, it's somehow a character assassination?

I don't get it.

That is a commonly misconstrued analogy on Hitler. You see, he was doing eugenics, he wasn't trying to create a master race.
en.wikipedia.org...

Eugenics is "the study of, or belief in, the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics)."[2] Prominent in the late 19th century and the Progressive Era, eugenics became a core tenet of some of the policies behind Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime.

You see, if Hitler was trying to create a master race, he would have possibly tried to make people live longer, not die faster.

Furthermore, he specifically looked for blonde hair and blue eyes to put on the frontlines. This was a part of his eugenics program, he targeted people with blue eyes and blonde hair.

So your analogy is pretty flawed.

The swastika however is not a racist symbol, so that guy is pretty uneducated.

Actually the swastika was a Tibetan symbol of good luck, the Nazi's took a peaceful symbol and warped it into there party logo.

I find this debate pretty funny because everyone is ASSuming a whole lot. We have no proof of who spray painted the sign or why.

The only thing that is clear is that the left is using this as propaganda to further there agenda.

They are further dividing the country and lumping groups together, 'if you oppose the health care bill your a racist'.

Welcome to Amerika.
