Pearl Jam's song "Do the Evolution" references the year:

"I crawled the earth, but now I'm higher. 2010, watch it go to fire."

I've listened to Pearl Jam since their early days, and have always felt the lyrics were very insightful. I bought their album "Yield" the first day it went on sale, and this song can be found on that album. It was one of my favorite songs at the time, now I'm more into SOAD, than PJ. Eddie Vedder's political ideologies tend to go hand in hand with mine, but that is not why I am starting this thread.

From the very first time I heard "Do the Evolution", I wondered what exactly is meant by "2010, watch it go to fire". That is why I am starting this thread. I am generally not into prophecies and predictions, but this has me curious. Mainly because I do not believe that any other predictions are made in their songs. Is this just a line thrown in to finish the song? Higher rhymes with fire. I know when I am writing, sometimes I throw some words together because they sound nice, and they have no real meaning. Is this the case here or should we be expecting something next year?

I welcome anyone and everyone who would like to bring some insight here. I'll take anything that you have to share about known predictions for the year 2010.

This is also a good exercise for me to practice opening my mind a little more. As I said, I generally do not buy into prophets.

Great thread!

Call me a pessimist, but in 2010 I think we'll be seeing further "bailouts," the beginning of America's financial collapse, and the suppression of more and more of our rights. It'll be a few years before we start turning things around and digging ourselves out of this mess.

On the bright side, I'd like to hope that we'll get closer to disclosure. Also, I'm fairly confident that we'll take some more steps in figuring out what really happened on 9-11. The last half of 2009 has been great in the release of new developments and information, and it seems as if the idea is coming more and more into the mainstream.

We'll see; only time will tell!

I noticed this too about 6 months ago. It makes me think, World War 3. Nostradamus said in one of his Quatrains there will be a great war between March, April, May, June. Then something happens in July, that stops the war, and then it resumes again around August that lasts for 7 months.

2010 is a new decade (the beginning of the Tens).

i think there will be a push for a cultural change in 2010, as it represents the point where we are no longer in the "new millennium" but well into the 21st century.

You should take a look towards Prodigy's new album - Invaders Must Die.

The album cover has a zeppelin on it, and many lyrics in it suggest a WW3 or some sort of nuclear disaster.

The song "World's On Fire":

The World's On Fire
The World's On Fire
and it's too close to expire

Colors:

wake the dogs up
call your voice

are you ready
for the war

And the line in my signature, as well as the title of the album. They seem to allude to a WW3. Perhaps it is the collective unconsciousness making its way into music.

Have you seen PJ's No code CD cover?
upload.wikimedia.org...

I don't know if they were trying to say something, but it looks like this...
en.wikipedia.org...

I've often contimplated whether TPTB must warn us of their upcoming events/catastrophies before they take place... sort of a cleansing of thier souls if you will.

Yes, I started a thread just recently to discuss music lyrics and today's happenings. It seems that a lot of songs written years ago are pointing right at what we are experiencing today. The question is whether this is simply a predictable phase, or are many artists 'inspired' with prophetic messages?

We all know many musicians happen to dabble with certain drugs such as heroin, so maybe the drug trips are giving them a glimpse of the future? I'd never touch hard stuff like that, so I don't know... but maybe?

Here is the thread I set up with other song lyrics in it that seem very pertinent to what is going on right now:

Music Lyrics Predict the Future?

The song In The Year 2525 by Zager and Evans is interesting in terms of predicting the future. It came out in 1969.

in the year 6565
ain`t gonna need no husband won`t need no wife
you`ll pick your son pick your daughter too
from the bottom of a long glass tube

Test tubes? Sure the dates are off but still..

in the year 3535
ain`t gonna need to tell the truth tell no lies
everything you think do and say
is in the pill you took today

in the year 4545
ain`t gonna need your teeth won`t need your eyes
you won`t find a thing to chew
nobody`s gonna look at you

in the year 5555
your arms are hanging limp at your sides
your legs got nothing to do
some machines doing that for you

The second verse there suggests maybe a spiritual coming where we are no longer physical bodies?

Well My predictions are just normal to expect. There' is no Global Warming, there's no apocalyptic on the horizon. _javascript:icon('
') This is what I see for 2010 _javascript:icon('
')

My Predictions for 2010.....

1.Expect Amtrak to start running trains on 3 new long distance routes that were once abandoned and had Amtrak Service on them I'm not sure about where, but feel that there will be 2 in the east and one in the West.

2.Obama poll numbers will be down to 30% by November

3.Gas reaches $3.50 or so by October. $4 in California

4.The removal or amendment to a law that requires new rail lines to have an 18 month environmental impact study to be either reduced to 3 to 6 months or to be removed all together.

5.US troops in Pakistan by November. They only stay a month or two.

6.Colder Temperatures in July especially some unusual snow fall in the Rockies. I want to say Denver, but also Washington State, Wyoming, and Yellowstone area. This is the beginning of Global Warming becoming less and less of an issue.

7.Whaling ship sunk by extremist. Whalers are saved by the people on the Whale Wars ship but they weren't the ones that sunk the whaling ship. Maybe somebody else who has more info on the name of the ship that is featured in the Whale War TV show.

8.UFO sighted above White House. Closest thing we get to a landing on the White House. Still no disclosure on the subject by US Government.

9.San Antonio obtains money to put down rails for its first Rail Streetcar. Construction begins in Late February 2011.

10.Austin , TX: New Commuter Rail starts running this year. By November, talk about Increasing service along rail line and to introduce service to include Burnet, and to Austin's Airport

11. Three entire Neighborhoods in Detroit get bulldozed. An area of about 2 Square Miles.

12. A +7.0 Earthquake on West coast. Not in big city or near major metro area like SF or LA.

And Finally, the bad number....
13. Three states try to pass Mileage base tax instead of taxing new electric hybrids by the amount of electricity they use.

Well I hope some of these things become bonkers.
