Broad generalizations that target the few, while making it appear that many share this obssession. You've almost got to hand it to CNN for creating hyped-up comedies.

So there are bound to be a sub-group of people who are left disoriented by their lack of a twitter fix. Right. So what? I love how condescending the article is.

Oh no the twitter junkies have to actually socialise with people in person instead for a change..... disaster!!!!

I admit I have Twitter but I rarely, if ever, use it. I didn't even notice it went down until I read it here on ATS. I can't imagine having my life broadcasted out to the world for anyone and everyone to see.

I'd be pretty upset if the net died...thank goddess I have a life outside of here eh?

Okay, i went and looked at twitter, never really saw it till now, just heard the name and figured it was some kind of myspace type thing.

HOLY CRAP PEOPLE ARE DUMB!

Really, come on, from what i saw people just post a little broken sentence fragment every chance they get telling the "world" about it? Is that really the idea? That just made me real sad, because now i know people are even more hopeless in their stupidity than i thought, and i never gave humans much credit in the first place.

I looked on it, you know what i saw?

"im bored"

and

"dog chewd my fone"

and

"OMGOMGOMGOMG!

And all of this insightful quips of wit and wisdom from some dumbass who i don't know, but now wish i did so i can make it a point to avoid them.

I didn't read far enough down, but i'm sure "ow my balls!" is in there somewhere, probably multiple times.

And, does anybody actually go there to find out what other people are posting and read it like it matters? That's even more depressing than those with the inflated egos thinking that they've got to broadcast their every action to the world like they were Brittney Spears.

Is that really all it does? It's main function?

I don't even use Twitter, and thus didn't notice it was down. I read about it in the paper a couple days after. And you know what? I'm kind of proud of that. Technodependence isn't really good in any case.

I'll admit I haven't actually read either yet, but when I saw this topic, it immediately clicked that I had seen the opposite earlier today. It sounds like Twitter caters to a broad demographic, some that care passionately, and some that don't even notice.
