This being my first real attempt at a discussion with well mannered postees, the quantity of response is not as important as substance. A questionnaire of sorts, designed to structure response and data gathering.

Basically, while reading this, be aware of how you feel. Ask yourself (internally) questions. Sound lame? Glance it over and perhaps ponder later. Be willing for your mind to interrupt your reading with thoughts. is all. questions come naturally to me, 'why' is and has been a driving factor since I was young.

-=-=-

1. Numbers, Colors, symbols, words (omit the words that you don't see in what would normally be described as a synchronistic event)
2. What are the common items described above?
3. Common on a scale of 1 to 10, ten being daily concerning your above choices.
4. Where are you most likely or have most likely, in what situations, seen synchronistic events?
5. other common themes?
6. Would you say deja-vu 'feels' different than synchronicity? your opinion.
7. Other family members who experience synchronicity, if even just rarely?
8. Have you considered psychiatry and deconstructing events to discredit any synchronicity in your daily life?
9. General messages or feelings/thoughts?
-=-=-

So I'll go first. This is a starter sort of thing, hopefully this discussion will evolve into something measurable. (I can dream, can't I?)

-=-=-

1. Numbers, symbols, words
2. 133, 144, 13 in general, 19, combinations of 3, 6, 9, combinations of 144 or 14, 11, 22, and double/triple digits around. ect. The time or numbers 1:37 (which is 13:37 or.. lol... LE:ET.) or 1337 or 137 on signs or whathaveyou. ect.
3. 7 or 8 depending on day
4. no common places above uncommon places
5. people will sometimes say something that sounds like a direct response to a question I mentally asked myself.
6. I feel that deja vu and what I feel of the concept of synchronicity are not similar in how they are interpreted as being felt.
7. On varying levels, everyone I come in contact with. I really don't believe it's a special skill, I'm more inclined to believe everyone can be, is, and plays the part of a messenger. Just in a big story with innumerable parts.
8. I've considered, I've talked, listened, and what I believe, honestly, is that there is either a system in this world we know that we can learn, know, and use, or synchronicity is nothing more than the complex subconscious playing timing games. I'm still torn sometimes, I doubt. But sometimes I believe in more, and synchronicity rears it's head for me. I have been labeled 'High Anxiety Disorder', when I questioned if I was schizo, and was rather relieved.
9. Somewhat of affirmation. Usually affirmation of some sort. That or 'ask a question dial in' game on the radio. I'm no expert. But it seems to work.

*bump*

lame. there are a couple of 'synchronicity' themed threads going, and only a couple of posts on other threads. Hoping that willing people would fill out the short survey, or devise a better survey.

More music guessing, I'll contemplate the songs on the radio in the morning and listen for them during the day. Patterns in numbers, specific ones I'll concentrate in the day on.

anybody else?

I say it feels very different.

My opinion on the DejaVu thing is that there really are different time-lines of life (parallel universe, if you will), that are merging together in this never-ending cycle of repeating life.

I suspect that the synchronicity is a code, that is somehow telling our subconscious mind what to do next in preparation for the next cycle of life.

Synchronicities are reality.

Everything is synchronicity.

Some of them are so intensely uncanny, though, they can't help but wake us up to the fact that the entire universe is intelligent and conscious in its own right. Like when all these things line up, that defy coincidence, and all you can do is sit back and laugh... and feel love for the universe around you. Everything always plays out as it "should" in the end.

It's different than deja vu.

One mundane example, is when I'll be driving out on back roads at night, and not see a single car for 15 or 20 minutes. Then I will pull up to a stop sign where another dead back road meets it, and will actually have to wait while another car goes by. And then not see another one for another 20 minutes. This happened to me so many times, and it was literally so ridiculous at times, that it's what got me thinking about "synchronicity" before I even knew what the word was or meant! I had to think, "Am I meeting up with these people on the road at these intersections because consciousness itself is directed to interact? Is there some natural force that guides points of consciousness together into novel events into reality, just to keep creation interesting from a creator's perspective?" All of these thoughts were bizarre to me at the time, but intensely fascinating, because like I said, these kinds of things, not limited to my driving experiences, were really becoming bizarrely against odds and really had me reconsidering reality in a bad way.

Everyone always experiences it differently. But it was the psychologist Carl Jung who coined the term and first described it and offered theories as to how and why it works. And his theory seemed to hinge on the same idea, that yes, the universe IS conscious. Physicists talked of "singularity," like the unified field from which all forces of natural arise. Einstein was a friend of Jung's. And when Jung heard this, he thought, "Surely consciousness itself must arise similarly from some aspect or material in the universe," and at the singularity, consciousness too MUST be present if it can be present anywhere else in creation.

For anyone unfamiliar with all of this, I highly recommend the original book on the subject, by Jung himself, "Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle."

hmmm, about two hours ago I googled for the meaning of 'LEET'/L33T/1337. I encounter various variations of 'leet' on (digital) clocks and always think: "ha, LeeT again...', wondering why I always encounter these numbers and therefore did a little online search (which navigated to wiki and the explanations of 'elite' and a certain use of language among certain online users).

Finding your thread about synchronicity here which incorporates the use of numbers/the word 1337 is a synchronicity in itself for me...
(sorry, too late for me (jee, 1:11 am) to answer your questionnaire now

Which in of itself is more synchronous yet ............
- a poster brought up his personal numbers in an unrelated thread
- that spurred me to start the "non-synchronous" numbers thread
- mynameisjuan, this threads OP, posted to it
- I looked at mynameisjuan's profile (very unusual for me to do)
- Wherein I saw this thread as his top-listed thread, and posted to it
- bsray, more than likely, caught it in recent threads list, and posted
- Then you saw it, and posted.

I am sure there are more in this little scenario alone of you finding this thread, but that's just what I immediately saw.

And agree with bsbray, just as many others - there is no such thing as conincidence.

Good ta meet ya !!!

The funny thing is: the reason why I hit this synchronicity-thread in 'recent posts' is because I was reading Jung today (The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious) which reminded me of the fact that I wanted to order 'The Red Book' which just recently is being published after having remained collecting dust in a safe for about a 100 years. So, having a 'Jung-rush', and being aware of the fact he is the founding man of the term 'synchronicity', combined with an earlier search to 13:37/leet, made me end up here.

Nice to meet you too

Synchronicity
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the philosophical concept. For other uses, see Synchronicity (disambiguation).
Synchronicity is the experience of two or more events that are causally unrelated occurring together in a meaningful manner. To count as synchronicity, the events should be unlikely to occur together by chance.

The concept does not question, or compete with, the notion of causality. Instead, it maintains that just as events may be grouped by cause, they may also be grouped by their meaning. Since meaning is a complex mental construction, subject to conscious and subconscious influence, not every correlation in the grouping of events by meaning needs to have an explanation in terms of cause and effect.

Thought I would post a clear meaning of what synchronicity means, it can be easy to confuse it with coincidence.
