Saudi prince's coup 'fails'

www.presstv.ir

Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the kingdom's former ambassador to the United States, is reportedly under house arrest over a conspiracy against the monarch.

Saad al-Faqih, head of the opposition group Islamic Reform Movement, told Arab-language TV al-Alam that Prince Bandar has been disappeared and the media has published no word from the ex-diplomat's whereabouts since nearly three months ago.

According to al-Faqih, the prince first disappeared in Britain but he returned to the kingdom shortly afterwards.

He added that after Saudi officials discovered that he had provoked 200 agen

Has anyone heard about this yet?

Wasn't this guy THE man for the Saudi family in Washington for many years? Why is this not the BIGGEST story out there? Why is it that the biggest exporter of oil to the US almost gets overthrown and no one is talking about it?

The US has had a "sweetheart" deal with the the Saudi Family for their oil since WWII. Was the prince looking to take the "family" business elsewhere? Maybe some country that will be able to pay it's oil bills off in a currency that is actually worth something?

Technically, we do pay for oil with something of real value: Weapon systems.

Of course this is the biggest story on ATS - but no one will get it.

The Unholy Alliance between the Fahd kingship and the US admin has meant even tolerating the planning and financing of 9/11.

Bandar was raking off millions if not billions on a lot of fronts but was actually the good guy in all this. He and a handful of smarter progressive Saudi princes, there are thousands of them, want to take Saudi Arabia out of the Dark Ages and acting like a real nation. Women have rights, there is education beyond the Koran, people have legal rights, actually courts of law, job creation - enlightenment. A civilization not a filthy rich but despotic kingdom pretending it's the 7th Century.

The Saudis run foreign policy in the Middle East and pretty much are the major shareholders in the worldwide oil industry. They are the ones who fear Iran has the will and the means to bring a Shiite Revolution that will be the end of the current rotten regime in Saudi Arabia.

So someone, maybe the Americans ratted on Bandar. Too bad. More of the same old form the Saudis a while longer.

Sorry, but I'm not informed.

Who's this guy, was his coup good or bad, and was the nation right or wrong in stopping him? Also what repercussions would his removal bring to US oil availability.

Price Bandar is the Castro of the Middle East. Trying to overthrow a corrupt regime in bed with the US.

The world's largest oil reserves were discovered in Saudi Arabia in the 30s. President Roosevelt cut a deal with them at the end of WWII. A new company was formed - Saudi Aramco. It guarantees regular flow of oil to the US at low prices in exchange for the US guaranteeing the royal family is protected and stays in power without danger.

The reason the US stepped in when Iraq invaded Kuwait and was on the verge of going into Saudi Arabia.

Gets complicated as the Saudi royals depend on the Wahhabist fundamentalist Islam factions to maintain control internally. The hate the Christian West, want Israel destroyed, and a worldwide Muslim jihad against the rest of the world.

So one one side the Saudis royal collaborate and dictate American foreign policy in the Middle East, on the other side, the extremists factions fund terrorism worldwide and want the US destroyed.

Saudis worked with the Pakistani military and their own bin Laden to fund and execute 9/11. No coincidence 15 of 19 hijackers were Saudis.

There is a blackout on news from Saudi Arabia. They are rarely discussed as a foreign power. They may be trying to weaken the US while it's struggling economically. They pretty much have taken over Britain and are moving country by country through Europe.

Bandar is trying to be more accomadating to the West. He wants one of his family members to replace the dying King Abdullah.

This is all hushed up. The Saudis have control of what is said about them through either funding or intimidation. No one ever says much about the Saudi royal family. They knock out websites, sue newspaper and book publishers, control their public image completely.

Someone will show up on this thread and say this is Zionist propaganda.

Just watch and check their profile.
