Ok so last night i woke up in the early hours of the morning for the first time in a very long time, usually i sleep right through to the morning. I had just woken up from a pretty bad dream and had that post-nightmare sort of feeling, you know a bit shaken and whatnot. Well i should say that i have had sleep paralysis just once before, to the extent i could not move my body at all however only for a very short period of time less then 30 seconds. However after trying to go back to sleep again i would feel as if i was literally dropping backwards through my bed and my ears were filled with a sound most commonly described as wind passing the ears. This was before i knew about the Astral projection and stuff so i thought it was very strange. But last night it was extremely intense.

Now i have heard that if you have fear while trying to reach the astral plane, it is incredibly hard to do so and even to the point where it is dangerous. So i had just woken up from my bad dream and i could feel that it was a lot harder than usual to move my arms and i realized that i must be still under some SP. As i lay down for a few minutes suddenly i got that sinking feeling again. I stayed with it because i knew this could be my moment to finally have an OBE, but i literally felt as if (instead of falling back into my bed like last time) i was being dragged down the length of my bed to the point i could feel my legs hanging over the end of my bed. At this point i became extremely scared thinking some entity from the astral realm was literally dragging my soul into the depths of evil, possibly taking advantage of the fear i was still feeling after that nightmare.

Thinking that i was physically being taken out of my bed i decided to open my eyes and snap out of it. And there i was still laying in bed in the same position, thinking wow that was insane. So as i lay down again for a few minutes the exact same thing happened, that feeling of getting sucked into oblivion. This time i forced myself to stay with it, ignoring my fear but to no avail. I became so scared that something was waiting to feed off me in some form or another i snapped out of it again. I should also note that instead of the wind rushing sound that occured the first time i ever had SP, this time on both occasions the ringing in my ears (perhaps tinnitus that most of us have) was multiplied so it was very very loud.

So my question is, if this were to happen again, should i stay with it and perhaps reach the astral plane, even in fear, advice appreciated cheers

Well i for one say stick with it, its my belief that one cannot be harmed in any way while in the astral. People who say otherwise probably never truly projected. Its all a sensation one needs to get used to, that why before projecting you should ease your way into it experiencing the steps and sensations of projection.

Take it slow and dont rush things, you are scared of the feelings a associate them to something bade because you have very limited experience with them. Try to reach a projection state naturally through trance or visualization during mediation, just to get used to the sensations.

remember it is human nature to fear the unknown

I'm no pro, but in my experience, going to the astral plane and being paralyzed when one wakes up are two different things.

when i was younger, i read some stuff on the astral plane after recording what seemed to be a pulsating humm in my cassette player, which was recording froma 60 minute tape onto a ninety minute, so there was, oddly, thirty minutes of pulsating weirdness that freaked me and my friends out.

I worked with a guy who astral travelled, a former blacktar user, ahem, who told me that all you had to do was think you wanted to astral travel and you would. beleive it, he said. so did the book he recommended...that book led me to the celestine prophecy but that's a different story.

anyways, like you, i was scared crapless of astral travel as soon as i started leaving the known universe, but i could cruise earth at my leisure. had an experience with myself and a couple of other spiritual peole i knew that to me embodies a metaphor i've never been able to define to my liking....geez, it's sucha huge world out there.

if i were you i'd be like forget that i control my own body. there is an innate satisfaction in my experience that comes with moving during sleep paralysis.

This seems to be happening against the posters will, not like "if you only believe and click your heels three times". So not something that is being attempted, but more like being "dragged to hell". If you stay with it you may end up in a place you don't want to be; so ask yourself if you can handle that because your fears could be justified.

Not saying you can't get through it with a great learning experience though.

sorry that's such an apologistic argument. we have control over our souls here period. i challenge anyone to argue, i will not say prove, cause of the topic, otherwise.
this guy will end up exactly where his desires will lead him to.

If this does happen to you again I would highly recommend trying to go with the flow of it and experience as much as you can. Try hard not to have Fear at all.. cautiousness yes but do not fear anything. The reason being is that you can do much more in Love than in Fear and another being there is nothing to Fear.

From what I've learned and read about OBE's and the Astral Plane is that:

1* - Nothing can destroy or harm you..
You are not your body, Who you are, is Limitless and Without End.

2* - You can always return to your body, therefore do not fear,
but enjoy the exploration and the wonderful experience it has to offer.

3* - You release most if not all Limitations of the body.

4* - Your simple desire of what you want to experience will cause you to experience this.

There are more but I'm unable to remember them at the moment.
-and Just a note, Im not saying I'm 100% correct on all of this, except for numbers 1 and 2. These are definitely without doubt True.

A great author I've come across is Robert A. Monroe. I've been reading his book 'Ultimate Journey' about his and others OBE's.. Quite fascinating if you ask me!! I'd recommend that book and his other ones if your interested in Out of body experiences and what they can be like. It taught me not to Fear this type of experience but to embrace it and explore it with Joy. Too bad I haven't had an OBE ...yet!

If you do happen to experience this again, please let us know will ya?

Did you feel any sense of vibrations when this happened?

I believe I have projected before, and I am literally "shaken" from my being when it happens. Its not settling, but the after affects are very pleasing. Its like a painless 10,000 volts going through my body.

it's simple man, if yo wanna go to the astral plane.
think before you sleep, " i wanna go to the astral plane".
beleive it will happen, like you believe that when you want a coke you'll drink a coke.
we're al different, but i was personally surprised at the simplicity of it.

Definitely without doubt opinion; not necessarily true.

Look, there are all kinds of shamanic journeys and astral possibilities, but those are usually begun with some intent. If there is no conscious intent and the experience begins against or without your will, then we cannot say what the result will be. And there is no guarantee it will be a "wonderful" experience. Anyone can learn from a horrifying experience, but that does not mean you will not be permanently altered by it.

There are times when it feel like I dive deeper in conscious and my bed feel like its seeking as well. But I try to reach the astral plans, instead of allowing the experience of obe come to me.

Luckily we humans are stuck in time, which means our beliefs have a huge influence on the spiritual. What we believe about the spiritual realms may or may not allow our experiences to have an impact on our 'souls', negative or positive. If we were out of space and time, we might be fixed and unable to turn a negative into a positive. I've had more than my fair share of night terrors, among other things. I find that having faith in something is a good way to get rid of them, for good.

I think when it comes to things you have to believe in, the best policy is to have beliefs that empower oneself in various ways. That way if we ever run into something (real or imaginary) that is maligned we have power.

(Certifiable) Possum

p.s. It really doesn't matter if these experiences are real, what does matter is that we have some conscious way of controlling their impact upon us. Either through religion, magic, or rationalism. It's the people who aren't able to constructively deal with these types of experiences that can go insane.

I've gotten the very same experience many times, only with me, I wake to see shadow beings definitely trying to drag me out. So I resist. I appreciate you describing the noises you experience. I experienced them, too, and it's comforting to know someone else has and it helps confirm my suspicions about what's been happening to me.

I've had accidental OBE's before and even one where somehow I was in a visible semi transparent form recognizable to a shocked witness over a thirty minute drive away. I've not been harmed in those OBEs but I didn't much care for them, either. I didn't go anywhere exciting that I couldn't see in real life and frankly it was just disturbing and uncomfortable and not anything I care to incur some unknown risk to repeat. I like having a body and appreciate staying firmly in it. I resent it that there seems to be some third parties out there who want to forcibly drag me out of it. I invoke Jesus and Archangel Michael on them.

Sorry to sound like a middle aged fussbudget but I AM a middle aged fussbudget. I've lived long enough to know I've got a good thing going and I don't need to be meddling in any paranormal nonsense and go gumming up the works. It is one thing if this crap is intent on bugging me, but if I seek it out, I am old enough to know better and ought to be ashamed of myself for borrowing trouble.

Don't regret following your instincts and resisting. You've got instincts for a reason. You only get about 80 years to have a body. Enjoy it and guard it. There will be enough time to go wandering as a spook after you croak properly.

You can't be harmed physically, but you can definitely have some traumatic, terrifying experiences.
