Here's a fun website kids. The premise seems to be that the huge list of rock & roll musicians on this site died without accepting Jesus as their savior. Their days on the Earth were shortened by their blasphemous beliefs.

The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Rock & Roll got it's start in the early 1950's although influences started prior to that. Say you were performing "race music" or rock & roll in 1955. You might have been 20 years old for argument sake. That would make you 74 now. Not ancient by any means. And so the website lists those who died early but never a mention of those who are still alive.

Ringo Starr = just turned 69

Paul McCartney = 67

Charles Edward "Chuck" Berry = 82

Jerry Lee Lewis = 73

Pete Townshend = 64

Mick Jagger = 66

Dion Francis DiMucci ("Dion") = 70

Linda Maria Ronstadt = 63

Aretha Franklin = 67

Dick Dale = 72

Antoine "Fats" Domino = 81

Tommy James = 62

Brian Wilson = 67

Just to note a few folks you might have heard of. Who knows what these folks believe? Are their beliefs controlling how long they live?

Bo Diddly died aged 79. Carl Perkins died at 65. Jan Berry of Jan & Dean fame died at 63 while Dean Torrence is still going strong at 69. This site also lists Nat 'King' Cole among the dead rock stars. Pretty funny, don't you think? They also list Minnie Riperton side by side with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sid Vicious and Janis Joplin. Seems right to lump a 30 year old classically trained singer that died of breast cancer at age 30 with road hardened rockers, right? It's no secret that many rock & roll musicians died succumbing to the temptations of fame and fortune. It happens to stars in all fields and media. That said, I think this is painting with a wide brush to the extreme. It's a free world wide web though. It's wild and woolly and not necessarily fair and balanced.

Who knows what all of these people believed while they were alive? I feel certain that a number of them were not the best of people. I also feel certain that a number of them were the best of people. A few might even have been Christians. The point in this case is some people will go to any length to pave their own path to a heavenly reward even if it means besmirching the dead and the innocent. To some, the ends justify the means. That seems exactly what Jesus would do.
