Why the stories about Obama's birth certificate will never die

To be totally fair, I believe that many of us jumped on the certificate Obama initially produced as evidence because we believed Obama was a natural born citizen.

Then, the budding birther movement questioned the certificate with their own sources.

-It's forged because this guy says he did it, or
-These experts have shown it's a forgery, or
-His time in Indonesia shows he wasn't a citizen, or
-This Kenyan official says he was born in Kenya, or
-His step-grandmother says he was born in Kenya, or
-He used his sister's COLB from Hawaii, or
-He couldn't travel to Pakistan with a US passport, or
-His mother wasn't a citizen long enough, or
-His father wasn't a citizen so he can't be natural born, or
-Indonesia didn't allow for dual-citizenship so he had to renounce his US citizenship...

I'm sure I've missed a few that have popped up here and there...

However, unlike each and every claim made by the birth conspirators, Obama's COLB has stood up to scrutiny and has been verified by multiple independent sources as well as official government sources. Add to that the newspaper announcements and some research of US, Indonesian, Kenyan, and British laws of the time, and it becomes clear that he is, beyond a reasonable doubt, a natural born US citizen.

Can we say that all of the evidence he is a natural born citizen is 100% real and true without physically touching it or going back in time to see what really happened? No, but there comes a point in time when we have to realize that for this conspiracy to be true, it would have to involve so many people at so many levels for such a huge period of time that it becomes so implausible it's comical.

88 pages on a poorly scanned fake document that virtually divided ATS down the middle illiciting some of the most passionate posts and research in it's history, and you don't think there's psychological trends or deviations at play here?

I know it will never die. But I'm moving beyond that now. I realize it's a fruitless endeavor. However the question I still have is how is it so many people here were so deceived, and for so long?

I really believe that's a valid question and that it does pertain to the topic of the thread. If I'm wrong please tell me.

This has been posted on another site, Unfortunately i don't have the source.

"In my examination of the original Taitz document, I first focused on the foxing of the paper in the cell that specified mothers maiden name. I would do the same handling any older document, because this is a clear indication of some age. Fortunately the foxing occurred directly across the original printed type. On a close examination of the area at 200% magnification and inverted to a negative we can see the chemical degradation of the printers ink during the foxing cycle.

1. The lower half of the letter i in maiden is chemically changed, while the upper half is in tact. This is critical in authentication. More on that in a minute.

2. The ink in the letter d has been fully consumed on the upper portion, and converted to a different chemical composition on the lower portion which still shows up in the negative but not in the positive. The consumed portion is in the expected place where the foxing plume begins and the most intense damage to the paper always takes place.

3. As expected the plume radiates like a star burst and travels most intensely in between the larger fibers of the paper yielding the reverse image in negative. Like a flower bloom.

Now back to the i. In order to cause the result with the i, using chemical adulteration, and have it come out in the manner it shows, would take many hours under intense magnification applying acid with the pointed tip of a thin sewing needle or other such minuscule device. A painstaking process, that would show the method on greater magnification in the negative which this document does not.

The types of damages to the printers ink during the foxing process and the fully consumed portions of ink indicate the document is at least 20-25 years old or much older.

I have found the same effect in documents from the 40s and 50s though they usually include fully formed holes at that age."

That's a very well preserved "45-year-old" document, that someone requested to support and issue that basically started a year or so ago.

I have a copy of mine that is over 20 years old and it doesn't show any signs of wear, so this one to be as old as it is and not show more signs of decay doesn't really strike me as odd.

For the record Ed Hale who first tried to sell this junk on eBay says he bought it for $1000 from a woman named "Shirley" (no last name) who did some work in Kenya back in the 60's. Nothing he stated had anything to do with any divorce or why she would even request the document.

And you know for a fact that this is the same document how? You do have some sort of proof that it's the same one right? Or is this just a baseless claim being made because it would support your belief that it's a fraud?

Which doesn't really matter because this document is a fraud.

So you've taken the document in question to someone who was qualified to say it's a fraud right? What's that? You haven't? Didn't think so.

Fact is we won't know if it's authentic or not unless the motion that was filed about it is approved. You can say it's fake until the cows come home, but that doesn't make it 100% fact. Nor would someone saying it's real be 100% fact for that matter.

I don't think there are 88 pages in this thread confined to only the facts about his BC.

Electro38 brought up the question of the sociological implications of this issue.

That's a messy subject that meanders through a host of issues present and past.

Right now I know this:
There seems to be debate about his real citizenship. McCain also had that issue come up during the campaign. McCain's was resolved. Obama's apparantly is not.

What happened to the most transparent administration in history?

1 million dollars spent to conceal his birth certificate.

Don't demean the Birthers by blowing it off as "postpartum psychosis".

the one BC I saw was a bad cut and paste Fake. white in between the holes in the letters, with a different background than inside the letters.
maybe that one was suspecious and it was I believe taughted as his BC and it was a bad forgery - I believe. I would like it verified. of coarse, as well as all of these documents he has went to court to block release which is custom here in the United States of America.
It has been charged Mr. Obama traveled under a British Passport on his europe and pakistan trip... (google it)
His Policies seem Socialist and not what I call a rescue plan for the economy more like forced financial indenturing. a debtors prison if you like. the government wants a say in your death. a right of some kind.
I know there has to be a plan somewhere, I just keep seeing the fox running away with all our chickens.

You misunderstand. She's saying that this BC wasn't created until 1964. Meaning this certified copy wasn't created until then. This is not supposed to be an original but a copy requested by Obama's father during his divorce to Obama's mother.

Then she reffered to Kenya's independence, and why the issuing of this document for the time period would be correct.
