well considering im in a combat arms unit as a 19delta for anyone who is or has served knows what that mos is. And know im not a spook maby you are or you have never served. and what good would it do me to know how many people are combat trained. in the us alone there is over 1.5 mil trained in the combat arms. they dont have to be combat related they could be from anyone who served in the us forces.

Leave the army and get an education, dont be a porn of the elite, deployed as cannon fodder in countries youve never heard of or can locate on a map.

Great idea for a thread. I hope you get a tremendous response. I would have served in Viet Nam, but failed the physical due to a childhood seizure disorder.
If I could serve now, in Iraq or Afghanistan, I would gladly join. I have some skills that would be handy in either place.

Killing people you don't know, for reasons you don't understand, people who don't know you, why you are there or why you are killing them......

I am ex services
cant tell you where i served and when I served.I did start as a normal green though

All I can say is you cannot beat the freindships you make in the services.
they make thing better even when your in a contact behind lines.
You may be cannon fodder but you do think your fighting the greater good i respect our troops out in the war zone known and unknown
i dont back the wars..
But one thing the british goverment always boasted when we held Northern Ireland what other army has a live training ground they said
we lost NI and started a fight in iraq that went wrong so we ploughed into afgan.. The british never wanted to lose their live training ground
afgan is not a new war this has been always there we are just fighting the people we trained the went hostle on us.
so we made them terroist and we want to hunt them down!

Ive been in the Air Force for about 6 and a half years now....Im am getting ready to get out in about 3 months.

I served 6 months in Iraq at Balad Air Base/Camp Anaconda. We dodged mortars and rockets every single day. I had 5 or 6 foot rocket land about 10 feet from me while I was outside smoking. Luckily it didnt go off or I would not be typing this. We had one of the Iraqi workers from the nearby town of Balad sneak a GPS onto the base, and get the coordinates of the chow hall. It was the bombed all to hell, and like 7 or 8 people died. Although I wasnt in direct combat or anything, it was pretty wild and something that I will never forget.

The Army paid for my college (8 years of it, still got 2 years in the bank), taught me how to speak Chinese, and how to read a map!

$10 says you've never been paid $70k and got a whole year off work to learn Chinese.

Sure I have to get dirty every once in a while, but at least we haven't joined the EU yet. Thank a Soldier.

Enjoy your freedom!

Back when I was a tanker in Baghdad-

One time an insurgent popped out at us shooting the tank with an AK (not too smart). I was out of .50 and the coax was overheated, but we had sabot battlecarried in the main gun.

For those not in the know, the sabot is a kenetic anti-armor round that flies at a classified velocity (well over a mile a second). Like a big dart.

So, for lack of options we shot the dude with a 120mm sabot round. He evaporated. We poked out of the turret to see what happened to him and there was literally nothing left, not even a shoe. Even if we missed the shockwave off the round would have killed him. I knew it would mess him up, but I at least expected there to be some evidence.

All for the best though. Cleaning chunks of people out of tank tracks isn't fun. Especially if they get hung up in the sprokets.

I got more if anyone is interested....

being in a 10 man hut and walking in the room seeing someone "slaying themselves" and getting to the point to where you just had to pretty much ignore it! that and having to take a deuce in the hottest space of plastic ever!
