Do they think it is ebola zaire or the Hanta virus strain?

What are they doing about it?

What is the CDC's or USAMRIID's plan?

Um... If this gets out... We're all going to die. Really we are. this is a horrible disease, worse than the bubonic plague and possibly an apocalypse one if it could travel airborne, then were all scrooed.

Hanta virus has nothing to do with Ebola. Ebola is a filovirus and has only one similar cousin which is Marbug.

Ebola is a price that is being paid for mans encroachment further and further into the wilderness. What remains to be seen is; are there deadlier viruses/deseases waiting for a human host to pass by.

As for weaponisation, all the literature I have read suggests that it would be an extremely difficult proposition. Will post some links when I find them.

I'm not sure how anything could be worse than Ebola... I mean bleeding oout of your orifaces for days and then dying an agonizing death sounds worse than any Hell imagined by any people at any time....

Have any of you read the Transall Saga? It's kind of a "youths" book, but its really good. Its about how the world ended because of the ebola virus, and then people evolved to defeat it. Its very interesting.

Hey, Mad Scientist!!

I was getting my virus' mixed up?

I know that Hanta is diffrent from Ebola and there are a few types of Ebola, but i've just finished work and getting confused!

By the way, if you think that Ebola was bad, then wait until they mutate the 'Spanish Lady'; that will really melt the hair on your ass!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there MD!

S'n-word': i'm a nurse so thats a joke around me!!!

Wow...sorry, energiser bunny because of coffee!!

The answer to your question is this:

The 'Spanish Lady' was a very nasty bug that came into the civilised world around 700 years ago in china. In 1598, a group of monks were travelling around mainland Spain carrying merchandise from Chinese gypsys and unknowingly, they were carrying rats that had been infected with this disease that orginated from somewhere near the city of Madrid.

As the monks travelled, selling the goods, they passed on the disease and within six months over 234 thousand people in the Mediterean were dead!

To this day, very little is known about the virus and how it was contracted and what the symtoms where. In 1875, when the monestry near Madrid borders were being re-built; they discovered masses of Codex's all about a mysterious virus that wiped out thousands of people in a 20 year epidemic that almost killed everyone, but mysteriously disappeared! :

When i find the links for it at work, i'll post them to you!

The only thing worse than Ebola Zaire, is a Ebola Reston that can effect humans. Such a virus was described in Tom Clancy's Executive Orders

I don't know where Tom Clancy got his information from but Ebola Reston is the most benign of the 4 substrains. It only causes desease in non-human primates.

That is simons avatar: the sheperds crook.

And uh MS, are you sure that E. Reston is benign? It didn't seem that way in Hot Zone but that was just a book. I man the monkeys were dieing left and right and it was airborne. Maybe the story was bent for the sake of selling books. I've been mislead yet again.

Also, Tom Clancy didn't mention E. Reston specifically. He just used an aerosol strain of Ebola that were placed by Iranian Terrorists in places all across the US.

yes Ebola Reston is benign to humans but not to other primates. I left a link to the CDC if you want to check it out.
