Technocracy Good idea or Bad idea??

I have been keeping an eye of this movement for some time and my opinion is still quite muddled. I would be interested in other people's takes on this.

The short of it from what I have gathered is that this is supposed to be a back up plan should the big picture take a turn for the worst. (U.S. collapse). There are some things I can agree with and some things I am not so sure about. They also seem a bit too fixated on the abolishment of the price system, almost to the point that it becomes a catch all for many problems that I am sure have more variables to work with other than trade systems.
